Starrs & Murph - Coffin
Artist: Starrs & Murph
Featuring: REKS
Producer: Maja 7th
Album: The Lost Package
Label: Loose Change Muzik
It’s been more than a year since Starrs & Murph stepped into the Booth with exclusive freestyle #23, but their skills have only grown more formidable during their absence from our pages – in fact, if you intend to oppose the Rhode Island duo, you may as well start shopping for a Coffin now. On this new track (a remix of a cut originally featured on Maja 7th‘s The Breakout mixtape), the duo make clear that they’re back in a big way, talking up their mic-rocking abilities and taking aim at the no-talent rappers whose careers they’d love to see six feet under. Joining the headliners over Maja’s synth-scorching production, Boston vet and lyrical powerhouse REKS handles guest duties, free-associating his way through 16 intricately-rhymed bars’ worth of dizzying braggadocio. So, Booth readers, did Starrs & Murph kill this one? If you think so, you can find more on AllHipHop/Sneaker Junkies/DJBooth.net-presented The Lost Package mixtape, when it arrives on our doorstep – that is, our front page – June 1.

And we've got the "head nodder of the night" selection! There are songs that work well recorded in a studio and then there are songs that work better performed live. This works as a streaming Booth feature, but man would I love to hear this performed love. Great energy, good marks all around.

Starts out with the same line from wale's chorus in Center of Attention lol but im surprised I remember that. Production starts out good but it kinda loses its initial effect. The rhymes are pretty good, the energy is decent and its a pretty hard track. But idk how much I'm feeling it.

The energy on here is awesome. Nice to hear hungry young rappers spittin' tight verses on a bangin' beat. Banger!

Production could definitely get on my nerves after more than a couple plays, but lyrically Stars & Murph did their thing. Track doesn't have many flaws, but the hook could definitely use some work. Solid track.

The vocal interruptions are annoying. (the uh huh, ah ah - is most def. not needed) The production is very repetitive and it leaves me bored as hell.

I'm a little surprised that I'm not enjoying this more. Maja's one of my favorite new producers, and I was raised on the kind of fearless, underground flows Stars, Murph and Reks drop. So what's holding me back? Honestly, I don't know. It's good...just not as good as I was hoping.

I don't know why people aren't feeling this as much as I do. This is sick.

When it started off, I thought it was Ice Cream Paint Job. The beat was decent, and the flows were alright, but nothing special. The wordplay was nice from all the dudes though, which makes it a 3.
