There’s nothing quite like cruising in a fitted ride and catching eyes as you drive through. While the best I’ve been able to do was call shotgun in a friend’s vehicle (just as much fun, none of the noise violation tickets), Stalley shows us how it’s properly done on his new record Slapp. In his second Booth feature (see previous effort Monkey Ish), Stalley is fired up for 2011, this time slow rolling through the streets in style. Backed again by Rashad with an old school, heavy hitting production, the track’s beat fits nicely with the crooning accompaniment from the boardmaster himself (take note from Swizz, it’s not easy to produce and sound fresh on the same cut), while the headliner runs through bar after bar of automotively enhanced rhymes. With the visuals for the song dropping yesterday, Stalley seems to be taking the New Year by storm and not looking back, which is just fine by me. If you liked ghost riding to this, be sure to keep a look out for his Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music), dropping February 8 via XXL.

Man, getting slapped has never felt so good. "Slapp" is one of those records where the beat doesn't necessarily dictate the double-time head nod, but you can't control your neck. Love the minimalistic beat and Stalley's command of the track.

To be honest the changes in the beat kind of threw me off. Separately the componets all work, they just don't flow into each other as well as they could.
That minor hitch aside, this record is everything the title suggests, and the title of the new album suggests. Intelligent trunk music indeed. |

Hook is crazy i nodded my head to it each time it came on. Now the only thang i coulda done w/o was the "oh's" in the background when he was rappin. I had to listen to the track twice cause the first tyme i couldnt catch on to anythang he was sayin bcuz of the oh's. Good overall track tho!

Stalley is too smooth over the beat. He is going go somewhere special this year.

Nice beat and chorus line. I like the way the beat changes up when Stalley comes in- gives it flava. I really appreciate the deep bass- so low I could barely hear on my pc speakers- had to see what it sounded like in the trunk! Very impressed.

Really felt the first leak off this tape, and this one is OK with me. Really feeling the chorus but it felt to me like a build up and then when the verses came... letdown wasn't gradual at all. Not the lyrics, the instrumental. This is a really nice sound for just a mixtape though, and the tuba part goes... February 8th seems a long time to wait now!

The beat and chorus are definitley standout, but the lyrics don't grasp me.
