In a music game where dropping boast after implausible boast is the status quo, what can you do to stand out from the self-aggrandizing pack? Simple: you hate on yourself. It may not be the newest strategy in the book (heck, Eminem basically built his career on a much darker brand of self-deprecation), but Booth newcomer Spose knows that, when delivered with a little wit, self-loathing never stops being funny. The sarcastically titled I’m Awesome finds the Maine native doing double-duty on the mic and behind the boards, serving up a very un-hardcore (but catchy) xylophone/whistle/accordion-driven beat as he gives us a thorough rundown of his faults. There are too many quotables for me to settle on a favorite, but “On my game, I’m only about as sexy as John McCain.” is a representative selection. So, has Spose won you over in spite of himself? Well, then I ‘spose you should mosey on down to your local record store and purchase a copy of his currently-untitled full-length when it drops on June 29.

haha i love the start of this hahah wa epic song heard this for awhile.
"supposed, i got the swager of a cripple" lol beat is so recognizable one it starts its like you instantly know who and what it is haha thank you djbooth for finally putting this song up. its supposed too be funny and enjoyable and that's what it is definitely love the direction of this song |

I sware I've heard this song or something similiar to this?! I'm drwaing a blank though _________ This guy has some balls to make fun of himself with some of the catchiest lyrics...and props to him for doing his own production. I hear some Asher Roth in this man...but there's no way I could catch myself listening to this. But just cause he made some jokes about himself and did the prodcution I won't hate on how "Awesome" he is.

Look, Spose clearly doesn't take himself too seriously, so I hope our listeners do not either. His sense of humor is great, the diction is perfecto, and the overall bounce of the track makes for a good listen. Now, will an entire album full of "I'm Awesome"'s wear out its welcome?

Yeah, this song is pretty funny. Personally, hate to be the odd one out, but I couldn't see myself listening to this... ever again.
I appreciate the fact that he was trying to do something different, however, at the end of the day I could care less about what he is saying. Production seemed kind of out of place and the flute in the background made me wanna blow my @*#$! brains out. Just being honest. Seems like this guy can carry a track, just wish the song sounded a little more serious. |

lol, why did you guys label this as "Pop"?! Does not taking him serious go that far? I expected him to sing.

Hahaha this was so funny, @3Roshambo3 I agree he is kinda like Asher and The Lonely Island mixed together. The entire childishness of this track is what makes it "good". My favorite line is "If you like this, it's because my little sister wrote it"

Not really feelin' both the production, and the rapper, to me this is just another white college rapper that is trying to get famous, sounds too much similar to Asher Roth.

I like it for what it is: a fun song that made me laugh a few times. This has been getting airplay since February in here in Dallas, so people must not be getting too tired of it.

I'm really feelin' the beat. His style is not quite as hard as "Em" but I like it though. I think he might have a place in the industry b/c he's actually alot different than eminem. I like it. Good Work.

I love it when unknowns drop tracks that they spit and produce on it.
Haha wow, this song is just...great. I really appreciate a good goofy ass song from time to time and this is definitely up there with some of the best of them. So many hilarious verses on this one, I feel like there are a lot of people out there who can use this as there theme music. Mainly some of the "epic" guys that go to my gym. I think everyone can relate to some of the goofy verses on here but it really is just non-stop self hating on this track. Wow, Spose you may not have meant to but this is one of those tracks that is going to stick with me for a long long time. This gets four stars just because I needed a good laugh today. |
