Hate as haters may, Soulja Boy‘s still on his grind, working on an album which the hoe-supermanning hip-popster claims will be his biggest and best yet. While the title of The Deandre Way suggests a shift into more personal territory, Soulja’s strategy for continuing domination of the game seems to revolve around not fixing what ain’t broke: Speakers Going Hammer finds the rapper exhibiting the same swaggeriffic pop sensibility fans have come to know and love. Backed by Boi-1da‘s string stabs and fingersnaps, the 20-year-old hitmaker tells us just how much he enjoys putting his whip’s sound system to ear-splitting use. While the cops don’t look too kindly on this behavior (they “watch [him] all day like TV”), his neighbors don’t mind the ruckus in the slightest – in fact, everybody in the city shows him love. Soulja Boy’s lyrical approach here is by no means revolutionary, but I have to admit I was impressed by the “polar bear / solar flare” couplet – nicely done, my friend. Formerly scheduled to drop November 2, Soulja Boy’s latest set (along with the artist’s debut novel – yes, I said novel – which I call dibs on reviewing) is now set to hit stores on the 16th.

I don't call myself a fan of Soulja Boy's music, but I've often kept tabs on his singles for their catchiness. "Speakers Going Hammer" doesn't live up to former singles like "Turn My Swag On" in my opinion. Radio's tastes are a completely different matter though.

I don’t know why I’m even listening to this crap right now. I normally don’t even bother to listen to this guy. Call me a hatter or whatever, but everything about this tracks screams out garbage to me. The production’s very poor, Soulja Boy’s lyrics are terrible like always.
In my opinion commercial/mainstream hip-hop was already badly hurting in the early 2000’s and when Soulja Boy came out he took it to a whole new level. Now all of these kids are seeing that this idiot got a record deal and he has absolutely no talent. He can’t even rhyme and the beats he makes are extremely simple and take very little effort to create. Whatever happened to creativeness, originality, uniqueness, everybody on the damn radio sounds exactly the same. Weather they’re talking about a new dance they just thought of over a weak beat or these guys use autotune because they can’t really sing, it just sounds cool. Do people even care about lyrics anymore? And another thing I really don’t like about this guy is he’s so ignorant and he’s not even the least bit humble about all of his successes. He doesn’t deserve all of the money he has in his bank, he doesn’t even deserve a dime. |

one of the best south rappers around lol na na let me stop, but soulja doing his thing as always, i dont see the diff from soulja raps or a gucci man or lil john, its all the same. so i grade it on the level that i grade all south rappers. with dat said beat is good enough to see sum booty cheeks bounce to n they hook is good so he gets an A n my book.

If you guys can't see improvement from where he started until now you guys are just hating.
His first stuff deserved 1 star, all the way. Hell even Pretty Boy Swag deserves 1 star. But this is an actual song. If jeezy made the same exact song it would be 4 stars all around and you know it. |

Not a big SB fan.. but as a few cats said, this is definitely an improvment from some of the joints he's put out latley. that "Blowing Me Kisses" was HORRIBLE!!! This will probably pick up in the clubs soon...

Ok, I've been listening to Soulja Boy since '05. And he's been getting better every year. If anyone bothered to pay attention he came out with POW which was the beginning of a new phase for him. Some of you dudes are OD ignorant. If you don't like his music, don't listen to him. If you Flatout don't like him, DONT LOOK HIM UP AND DONT WATCH HIS VIDEOS. If he is so bad, why does he get respect from pioneers like Diddy 50 and kanye? How did he make 7M in 2010. He has to be doing something right. and you suckas are still listening to him. I love Soulja Boy, he's my favorite rapper. You can tell he puts effort into his music and overall it sounds perfect. For an artist that tries so hard, there's a reason he's getting far. I'm not gonna lie but I hardly buy music, BUT thats an except to Soulja Boy or other SODMG artists, I pay to listen to them because they deserve it.
