I know what you’re all thinking: “How did Soulja Boy get so many street lyricists on one of his songs?” Well, Turn My Swag On off sophomore LP iSouljaBoyTellEm just happened to be S-Beezy’s first real attempt at lyricism, and Natural Disaster & Top Cat‘s beat has already inspired quite a few freestyles from big-name artists. On this official remix, the ATL representative brings a brand-new verse (which arguably tops the original in both swag and skill) before yielding the spotlight to Lil Wayne, Jim Jones, Maino, and Jadakiss (that’s three NYC MCs and one who often sounds like one!) Soulja's verse is not bad at all. "give the king his throne." nice. though the hook is really F-in retarded, I think i'll be forced to put this on my iPod.

I already said before that "Turn My Swag On" was probably the best Soulja Boy song ever. (In my opinion, though we know "Crank Dat" was the most commercially successful joint). Weezy's verse had some clever parts, like "I'm in the bathroom taking a rich ni**a S**t. Jim Jones verse intro mix was incredibly stupid. Who puts a filter on vocals to make them sounds low quality? His verse was jumbled and lame too. Guess there was no quality integrity since it was Soulja Boy. (The mix also made the fact that these verses were recorded in different spots SUPER obvious).
Maino's verse was decent. I'm still never going to be a fan of him. (Why did they keep the Jim Jones hook? WTFlip. Soulja Boy's hook was way better. Jada on a S.Beezy joint? Never woulda thought. Just O.K for this one. I heard a rumor that Kanye was going to be on it. That would have actually made this official. |

If this is as lyrical as Soulja Boy gets, he seriously doesn't ever have a chance in hell at turning around his teenage poppy image. I understand the end result of this song is NICE (see Lil Wayne and Jadakiss), but this kind of collaboration shows you how much the old mighty dollar influences business moves.
5 years ago... Jada NEVER would have laid down a verse here.

Wow Jim Jones completely ruins the song. His voice sounds absolutely terrible, and his rapping is terrible as usual, and even more annoying than usual.

Smart thinking by SB putting Jim Jones on the track. Its not hard to drop a better verse than Jim.
I could see Jada on this, hell 5 years he was working with Jenny Lopez. She worse at singing than SB is at rapping. Song is ok, jim kills it from being any better. |

I've always given soulja boy a chance despite his "ringtone one hit wonder no talent" reputation. And fairly often he suprises me with some well produced songs with some good lyrics, its obvious hes trying to improve. His lyrics are weak, definitely, but his unique sounding basically new genre hes made I think will stay for a while.
Verse rankings: Best to worst Lil wayne (great lyrics great sound), Soulja boy (nice flowin, obviously hit it on his own song and "genre"), Jadakiss (suprisingly fit well into the song), Maino (boring verse), Jim Jones (wtf? lol hes the one hit wonder) |

I think Mrmag raised a good point - Its not hard to drop a better verse than Jim.... Jones does his best to Ruin whatever replay potential this song could have had..... others did decent but nothin of value .... overall :: this isn't a song that should have trouble finding an audience.... |

Jim needs to stop messing with the autotune! It’s ruinin what’s left of his reputation…
I hated the original version because SB’s chorus is unbearable! His new verse flow finally sounds ok, but he’s still yet to say something worth listening. Weezy was the only one enjoyable. Jada was out of place. |

SB is so annoying. Dammit! It seemed like him and Jada were duking it out, which one could suck more nuts. G Damn! If it wasn't for Lil Wayne and Jada than I would have given this song 1 star.

Beat is nice. Never been a huge fan of Soulja Boy but its hard to hate because dude is making money and he dont care what the haters say. This is probably one of his best joints so far and half is in part to a pretty good supporting cast. I like Jim Jones but he sounds like he is on some heavy drank in this one. Maino not bad on this track I think his cd will do pretty good. Jada was good as usual.

Typical Soulja Boy in my opinion, good beat, poor lyrics. Now it's just got a few good verses thrown in from Weezy, Maino (He's on my radar after that 'All the Above' track) & Jadakiss. But let's not talk about Jones... WHAT? He sounds terrible!? The hook is crazy annoying after 6 and a half minutes. Jones has a worse hook then Soulja Boy. In rotation

I almost couldn't make it through Jim Jones; I'm scared to say it but without him this is a 3.5-4.0 -- a Souljaboytellem song??? I know I thought that too but Jim Jones if he does have a Ferrari he needs to just keep driving in it. Everything else was on point, I'm still not convinced Soulja boy is gonna stick around but Drumma boy can make almost ne 1 look good.

Now , finally you hear what soulja boy is sayin' . In the original you dont even know what he say. Weezy was really good! not so much uuuhhh ooohhh aaahhh XD . I dont really like soulj oy like that, but you got to amit that this is a solid remix, but there is one problem, WTF is Jim Jones trying to do, he sounds like absolute garbage. Lil wayne and Jada came hard, and Maino was decent, but soulja boy's verse was to expected, his lyrics are to repetitive which makes him a mediocre artist. its okay....
