Anyone who’s been checking the DJBooth since June of ‘07 knows that whenever we feature a new single by Soulja Boy, a Bible’s worth of comments usually follow.  Not wanting to pass up the opportunity, the Booth presents the official first single from the S.O.D. leader’s sophomore album; sticking with the “computer celebrity” theme created on the platinum-certified Souljaboytellem.com, his newest product, iSouljaBoyTellEm, will be landing on-and-offline on November 18.  Also keeping true to the typical Soulja Boy theme is Bird Walk, which features simplistic self-production, a catchy hook and dance to go with it, and, as always,  an overall desire to have fun.  Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Soulja Boy knows what makes him successful.  Is the second time the charm for the teen sensation?

First!! When I first heard this I turned it off after 1 min. This is even worse than Crank Dat because the dance is even stupid. Birdwalk?? wtf?? The song is garbage and all it is, is a slightly modified version of Crank Dat. This song goes well with those little kids dat dont know what real music is. One

Z, and everyone else, there is no way Soulja Boy will ever come close to the success he had. Let's face it, Crank That was a 1 in a million song that he struck gold with. It was a hit or miss, and I think way too many elements outside of Soulja Boy's control contributed to the success of that song. Crank That is (unfortunately) a universally known track, its played at weddings, bday parties....funerals??? He is trying way too hard on this track to repeat his success, way too much screaming. Crank That was a simple track that was probably made in about 10 minutes. That's why that song was so unique. He might have some success in the urban community, but never ever again worldwide.

Song was funny but i could see myself dancing drunk to this so i have to give it some props lol. As for that question, I dont think that he can ever see that success again. Crank that was a one time only deal, he will never go platinum again if he continues to make songs like that and this anymore but i think he should be smart enough where he realizes that. One thing he has going for him is that everyone knows him, so if he can switch up his style and make a decent song I bet it would get alot more attention than most artists. Whatever happens hes already made his mark haha

DJ Z-Soulja boy will never see the same success as crank that...not as long as he keeps using the same formula. it's tired now...consumers has a very short attention span. to keep my attention your music has to evolve, get better, and you have to grow as an artist. this is the same soulja boy i heard a year...it gets annoying when i hear a new song off of a new album that sounds like it was from the last...just my opinion though...

WTF!!?? Birdwalk. Thats the most gayest thing I ever heard. Whats next?? Elephant stomp?? HipHop is fu cked up right now and the only dudes keeping it up is Koopa, Lupe, Nas, etc. These fake artists is gettin old. And to the question, hell no he will never have the success as before because after 10 similar songs people will get sick of it. Im not hatin.. i give the dude respect but come on and change something..this shyt the same thing. Get some lyrics you repetitive lyricist. Go get some flow from Dr. Carter. Iight then im out

I heard this joint a few days ago. Let me be the first to say this: When Crank Day came out, I liked it. Though it was secretly...lol...I mean, it was catchy and it just took the world by storm. Usually, as history shows us, in ANY type of music you do, if you don't reinvent yourself or come with a different formula, you'll die off quickly. The fact that Soulja Boy tries to duplicate the hype and fame he got with Crank Dat, he's making a really bad move. I felt he could have still did his style and came with something different . Aside from how much people said they "hated" Crank Dat, it was still actually pretty creative...cuz nothing else was really out like that and it stood out like a sore thumb. But this second time around, it's been done already. It's old. People always complain about other artists who try something new (a prime example would be Kanye West's last album with "Stronger" and even now with his new single "Love Lockdown"), but the truth of the matter is, when you change up, regardless if it catches people off guard, it gets them looking and thinking, trying to really get with the new direction you're going. I feel Soulja Boy didn't kill hip hop, cuz no one can...and I was partially glad to see the homey continue to do this thing HIS way. But this new single doesn't exhibit an honest effort to make something NEW, even if it's the Soulja Boy way. So to answer Z, no, I don't think he will, unless he takes the world be storm with something that's not predictable. I'll give him 2 for the effort, but he needs to go back to the drawing board. I hope somehow that talk he had with KRS-One on RapCity and even his run in with Ice T will help develop him into a better artist. That's just my two cents...and then some (or alot). LOL Whatever.

No one noticed it on here, but this definitly shows growth for SOulja Boy. The production is still the same style, but a little better. And his lyrics have definitly graduated elementary school now. Don't get me wrong, he still sucks, but he's improving.

I disagree I don't think he's a improving. I think he's trying to sound tough on this track..and hitting a "bird walk" sounds gay as hell. He needs to bird walk his ass out the rap game and never mention D-town in a song again..presidents get killed in Dallas no bird walking tolerated. -1 BEYOND GARBAGE

I gained alot of respect 4 this kid during the ice t thing, but just because I'd do Sarah Pailin doesn't mean I'd vote 4 her. His music is bad. Hot ass garbage. BAD! No question no guessing. Honestly, I like this kid I think he's good for hip hop. He is the low bar in which we all can measure our music. Get ya money Soulja boy. As long as the kids can dance, Tell um to!!

:p It had to be Soulja Boy to make me come back to the reviews... but what is there exactly for me to comment on a musical basis?! NOTHING! Like cb126405 said the reason why Crank That was a success had very little to do with music and SB himself (creatively speaking, he’s as responsible as Fruity Loops can be). People were just desperate to dance and have fun and, as long as those people are still here, this song might be just as successful, since those kind of people normally don’t care whether a song is repetitive, brainless, unimaginative or a straight copy of another one (yes, this is Crank That version 2.008, although worse). So Z, the question might be: are those people still here?

Side notes:

1. Stop with the argument that SB makes songs for the kids and that the game would be boring without it. That’s not an excuse for mediocrity! If you want music “for the kids” or just to dance to, you have Mims (This is why I’m hot), Plies (Pants hang low), 50 cent (Ayo tech), Flo Rida (Low), Three 6 mafia (I’d rather)... you don’t need to go so low with it as SB does.

2. Stop throwing the haters card randomly as if it means anything! If you don’t like something, you have more than valid reason to comment about it. The ones you call “haters” are the only ones giving arguments so far, instead of just d*ck riding and being completely biased.

He brings Hip Hop back!!
Because in the past Hip Hop wasn't so dirty like it is nowadays.
It was music which brings people to dance.
And that's what Soulja Boy tries to get.
So, don't hate on him!!

Not liking something is not hating it's just not liking it. For instance, I don't like shit sandwiches but for some people that might be a delicacy. That doesn't make me a hater, just someone that doesn't like shit. And this joint is beyond shit, it's some straight up bullshit and if I ever catch a DJ playing this nonsense in any spot I'm in I'm taking my belt off and beating his ass like his daddy should have when he first thought about playing this shit. Y'all done got my pressure up...

This is a typical soulja boy song, repettitive lyrics wit the lyrical content of a 6th grader, and the hook takin up most of the song. This isnt as bad as "donk" but it's still trash.
