After T-Pain releases Thr33 Ringz on November 11, the label boss will resume promoting his Nappy Boy Digital label sideshows. While Tay Dizm‘s current single, Beam Me Up, continues to get music video spins, his resident girl group has a new single with even stronger hit potential. On What It Is, the ladies of Sophia Fresh spot some dudes in the club who are about as fresh (I couldn’t resist) as they are. Joining the ladies is the newest artist to fall in love with auto-tune, Mr. Kanye West, who contributes a memorable 16-bar verse (with his own beatboxed, chopped and screwed effects). Without providing any vocals, however, Teddy again steals the show with his scintillating production skills. For upcoming electronic jams, be on the lookout for Sophia Fresh’s currently-untitled digital exclusive debut (due out in early ‘09).

The T-Pain production sounds really similar with a lot of songs on T-Pain's previous mixtape. Im not digging the production. Might as well have it produced by Kanye cuz he on the song. T-Pain getting old and you dont have to have him on every song to make a hit. Sophia dont sound that good on here. Her voice sounds kinda rough and off-beat at times. Personally I didnt like Kanye either, but he did average. This aint bad but it aint good. Just ok 2 stars

Hmm....a T-Pain produced track with a Kanye guest feature...this track has way too much hype. Kanye's verse is pretty decent, but the rest of the track needs work. Wouldnt put this in rotation, but I could see where people are comin from here.

I'm really digging the futuristic, electronica vibe popular music and hip hop is going to. Some people (purists and others) are going to oppose...but so what. Go somewhere. This is the new generation and we TAKIN' OVA (NO Khaled intended). So I suggest you go get your prescription of Charles Hamilton Pink Pills and chill. But just like Sophia Fresh' last effort, the vocals and specialness of them are absent . The track is a really crappy joint in my opinion. The production is pretty nuts by T-Pain, though I felt he could have done better. The mix needs to be better and the drums should have hit harder. I'm glad Ye didn't hop on the autotune for this one. He's doing innovative stuff with the "Love Lockdown" and "Heartless" type joints, but to have thrown it on here would have just been a straight Dwayne Carter move. LOL. Overall, his verse made this song able to be rotation worthy, but it was one of those few so-so verses that Kanye spits here and there (Pro Nails, Go Hard, etc). He had decent presence though. I need Sophia Fresh to actually put something out that cosigns her last name.

beat reminds me of GO GIRL by ciara mixed with CHOPPED N SKREWED by T-Pain if you ask me but I like it alot either way Sophia fresh is pretty nice from the two track I heard from her...and Kanye does nice on this one ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THIS INSTRUMENMTAL

The warming up before the beat drops is very well done, that sound in the background throughout is hypnotizing, the percussion is eclectic and provides an uplifting tempo: great job T-Pain! I almost forgot how Kanye sounds without the voice box, so good to hear HIM again. His verse was awesome: lyrics, flow and “effects” alike! :p Funny he mentions it…Sophia is almost forgotten in the middle of all this, but that’s not her fault: vocals were actually good, although kept subtle.

Um, fellas, read the blurb-Sophia Fresh is a GROUP (don't let the name fool ya). One of the girls there just happened to dominate the vocals here. This is cool, and with Kanye on the rise, will definitely be playing a lot. I'll put this in rotation.

THIS BEAT IS BANANAS!!!!! T-Pain is serious on them boards! Sophia Fresh doesn't really sound like the big draw here. In my opinion, they could have put any single solo female or group on this track and it would have sounded exactly the same or better/more clearly spoken! Their voices don't really sound that great. The whole time I am just waiting to hear Kanye and he pretty much delivered! It should have been Kanye on all verses and those generic girls on the chorus and T-Pain on the beats and it would have been a classic! As it stands...its just a rotation track; certain to get lost in the shuffle!

This song is very good! Production is FIRE, catchy and energetic, and Kanye sounds super in his verse! I don't know if I like them, though...they sound weak, I agree with you DjBlaze, they aren't the first thing one could notice listening to the song...T-Pain did a great work and I'm happy he didn't have a verse coz I couldn't stand his voicebox again

This beat is SICK!! But Sophia Fresh did not sound very good on this...Kanye was pretty good and it's good to hear him without the voicebox, but I expected a better verse. Overall, this is OK, but it's not a favorite. At least T-Pain wasn't on here...I get tired of that voicebox after a while.

what happend to kanye??? some1 please tell me because i use to lov him and you could intrantly tell if he produced a track (i know he didnt do this one!!!) but on the real it seams lyk him and wayne are competing for the same style!! I gotta admit, this song is really hot, I see it going into rotation. Its great for a debut single by the girls, and capable for getting many radio and club spins... however, I see it being one of those songs that was like super hot at the time, but being forgotten in 3 years. 3.5/5
