As anyone who’s seen Soul Plane knows, Snoop Dogg has an irrepressible sense of humor, so when he declared that his new single Wet was created for recently engaged Prince William’s bachelor party, the announcement was more than a little tongue in cheek; or is that tongue in….nevermind. Whatever the reason for its making, Wet is here, and I’ve got a feeling it will be one of Snoop’s most controversial releases in a minute. About as far from a Dr. Dre beat as you can get, Wet meanders on a supremely minimalistic and oddly hypnotic beat from new school club heroes The Cataracts, a backdrop the Doggfather responds to with a quixotic, quasi-auto-tuned, half-sung, very hard to describe flow. The overall result is a record I’m willing to bet will inspire either instant love, or instant dislike. I just don’t know if it’s possible to be in the middle on this one. With Wet as one of the first offerings, I now have no idea what to expect from Snoop’s upcoming album Doggumentary Music (due out in March 2011), and maybe that’s exactly the way he likes it.

The back story about the creation of this song for the Prince's bachelor party is hilarious. I wonder if he does Bar Mitzvah's and Baptisms, too? This song reminds me of the unique sound Snoop came with a few years back when he released "Drop it Like its Hot." I have a feeling that the clubs will eat this up, while radio will most likely stay away (radio edit and all). Still not the Snoop I grew up loving (pre-No Limit, btw), but I'll take it.

I saw this song earlier today on a different website and i couldnt help but to check it out. And when i pressed play, i knew right there that i wasnt gonna love it but only like it. Its great to hear from Snoop. But this isnt that great from him. The lyrics are really weak, and random. And im sure this deffenitly wont be on the radio. If is was the slong would be completely different. I must say that i do love the production from The Cataracs. This will be on the charts, just cuz its Snoop.

Lol agree with the first comment, I probably will be forced into liking this because i hear it so much, but not the true snoop, but then again how long can he sing about gin, juice, gz, hustlers, last meals, blue carpets, doggystyle and all that... This is awwite but not my cup of cha.

I hate to say I was completely right, but I was completely right. It looks like this one is divisive. Personally, at first I had my screw face on the first time I heard it, but then I listened again, relaxed, and really found myself digging it.
Obviously not what a lot of long time fans expect, but I'm giving props to Snoop for experimenting a bit and not simply making "Gin & Juice" over and over again.

I know this is not the Snoop we all grew up on (I wanna be a motherf*cking Hustla). But this song is appropriate for 2010. Snoop has always adapted to the changing times. He moved from being a gangsta rapper to being a household name when it comes to emcees.
This track will be played in clubs and have a remix by a David Guetta or someone from that genre. I mean cant see the ladies slow grinding to this....dangggg. |

I actually really enjoy the direction that Snoop is heading in with this one. The production is ridiculously infectious and the vocals are definitely a step up from "Sexual Eruption". Very enjoyable track.

This track didn't make me cringe like the net rating had me anticipating. I can definitely see it slamming in clubs with plenty of immoral females, and it's a step up from annoying. This direction is shitward bound, though, so I will pray he doesn't delve so deeply into this new sandbox.
