So far, Snoop Dogg’s #PuffPuffPassTuesdays have been moderately successful. They seem to be met with more anticipation than Timbaland’s weekly series (is that even still happening?), but are nowhere near the frenzy ‘Ye had us in late last year. Snoop’s latest leak, Platinum, featuring frequent collaborator R. Kelly may up the ante for the Boss Dogg, as he switches up between his usually laid back flow and something more in line with the rapid fire rap style popular right now. Kellz is in rapper mode on this one, spitting like the cocky mofo he is. Lex Luger’s beat is without a doubt club ready, as all of his tracks are which turns out to be a bit of a double-edged sword. His production is hot, but it’s almost like the same hot track with one rapper replacing another. Nevertheless, Luger is the Producer of the Month, which guarantees this record some nationwide urban spins. Come March 29, we’ll see if Snoop’s upcoming album, Doggumentary, really does go “platinum” or if this is just wishful thinking. Well, is it?

This is the Snoop that we've all been wondering if we'd ever see again. All parties involved did a good job. The song definitely rises to it's title.

After another long day of traveling, light feedback time...
I've been on the fence with most of Snoop's new material, but when you bring Kellz into the fold it changes things haha. Not a fan of the stale Luger production (seriously?), but overall a fan. |

I know Lex Luger recycles hit beats but I f*cks with it. The beat is a straight head nodder even though its sounds like H.A.M. I liked Kellz more than Snoop.

Lex Luger beats song the same to me, and Snoop didn’t fit as well as Kells.

Lex has such a futuristic sound....meaning we already know what itll sound like before it comes out. Not sure if thats a good thing. Mer personally, im losing interest everytime he makes a beat, cuz ive heard it. None the less, its his niche and people love it so why would he stop making the same stuff now? Either way, Kellz was a bright part on this song, snoop is more of the same...garbage stuff as of late and it only makes me want to crave gin n juice. We need old snoop back in hip hop.

Definition of a guilty pleasure banger for me. Despite my more intelligent aspirations, this is ridiculous in all the right ways - I'll be pressing play anytime I need to turn my brain off and just bang.
Oh, and one of Snoop's better flows in a minute. Props. |
