With the success of his previous album Malice in Wonderland fading into the rearview, Snoop Dogg’s once again popping bottles on his brand new single, the chronologically confused New Year’s Eve. While I would have assumed this smoking and drinkin anthem would have dropped in December, I guess it’s never too early to party, especially when the Doggfather’s involved. For the beat D-O-Double-G reunites with Scoop Deville, the man responsible for his smash I Wanna Rock, with the producer keeping his signature snares as sharp as ever but otherwise lightening the sonic mood, giving the track an uptempo vibe. On the mic Snoop is, well, Snoop, laying down some good times rhymes in his trademark mellowed delivery, but somehow the man’s flows just never get old. Add in a perfectly crafted hook from singer Marty James and some champagne sound effects and you’ve got just the thing to set off the new year a little (ok, a lot) early. The ball drops on Snoop’s new, currently untitled album this coming March. Hey, patience is a virtue people.

I don't want to poo poo this record, but (sadly) I have no choice. True, Snoop can make just about any type of song. However, this record feels unnatural. I like the Scoop Deville production and Marty James (a friend of mine) sounds excellent on the pop-driven hook, but Snoop's effort is less than impressive.

March might not stick as the release date for the new album if we don't get something better before then.

Eh Snoop can do much better, even if he is going to try to venture into the hip-pop genre. This is really just ok.

This song is obviously designed to stain your brain, because I kept humming "Newwwwwwww Yeeeear's Eeeeeeeve, I DOooooo Beeeeeelieve" all day! How clever of Snoop to make the very first New Year's Eve Anthem. From now on, this song will played at every NewYear'sEve party across the globe. This is why I'm rating this a classic, because it's a first & will last forever.

Marty James is the "new" hook guy. He killed it on TheFederations "I Wear My Stunna Glasses at Night" song, BabyBash's "FantasyGirl", PaulWall's "I Grind" and I heard he's on lots upcoming releases. I wouldn't be surprised to see his name on the JayZ/KanyeWest upcoming album! MartyJames definitely has the voice! ScoopDeville is rising as a big record producer and this song will be on many NewYear'sEve TV Commercials.

Good Job O.G. SnoopDogg! eeeeeeewweeeeeeee! You know I'm mixing my Landy with Champagne this NYEve! Peace, Thug & Pro$$$perity, RHYTHMX

For me there is too much happening production wise... the arrangement detracts from the hook and verses... I believe Snoop can find success in Hip-Pop, if that's the route he chooses to go... I'm not feeling this but I'm a few months away from the new year's spirit

This type of a record is just not snoop's type. This track is better than many songs from Malice, but still not good enough.

Putting the music aside for a second, I'm really confused what the label was thinking on this one. I don't want to overstate the obvious, but why release this in October? Don't you put this out in early December, let it build for a few weeks and then have it a must play for every DJs New Year's Eve set? I'm sure they had their reason, I just can't think of what it could be.

Unfortunately the record, though catchy, isn't enough to make up for the odd timing. To me Marty James was the best part of this, that hook's on point, but otherwise Snoop's as solid as ever but unremarkable, and the beat's catchy but not addictive.

Predictable song after California Girls contribution. Honestly, I don't know why people are so blind. He hasn't made a song that's impressed me in years.

I was really feeling the hook, but I don’t think Snoop got it quite right.
