Ready to feel old? Snoop Dogg’s been west coastin his way through the rap game for an incredible 17 years now, and the Doggfather shows no signs of slowing down. Not content to rest on his considerable hip-hop laurels, Snoop D-o-double-g is back to reclaim the crown with his new single Gangsta Luv, featuring vocals from The-Dream and production work from the radio killa and his production partner Tricky Stewart. Gangsta Luv is exactly the kind of cut radio loves: an up-tempo jam with a catchy hook and some dirty but not too dirty lyrics from Snoop “Baby like the way I wake her up/cause I’m a gangster, I grab her by the ****.” In other words, enjoy it now, cause you’ll be sick of it in a month when radio overplays it. Fans can expect more gangstified lovin when Snoop’s new album Malice in Wonderland hits stores December, 8, just in time for grandma’s Christmas present. If you like what you’re hearing, you can download Gangsta Luv here.

I want to like this (and I am sure plenty of you will), but I just cannot. Its catchy, so I will give it rotation status since its better than okay. I am just saddened that Snoop's talents are wasted in an effort to follow the leader and appeal to commercial interests.

This is a nice, solid radio joint from Snoop. I don't mind radio songs if the lyrics are actually good and the verses flow well. Snoop delivers both of these and The-Dream holds it down on the hook (as always). Tricky's production is another high point. 3.5, I'll round up.

i'd say that snoop dogg is pretty good and the dream delivers as well but this beat is really whats doing it for me

I just cannot feel this record. I just can't. Just something about The-Dream and reknown gangsta rapper on the same track...something just doesn't mesh for me.

It's a shame that Snoop went from classics like Doggy Dogg World to this. This isn't horribe but its just a let down. Nothing's wrong with evolving or growing up (Beatiful was dope) but just selling out is sad.

He use to make music that was real and he just didn't care how anyone else would react. Always looked down upon by the media for his foul mouth but thats what made the music. The attitude and image just made him a better rapper to most, but sadly that Snoop is long gone.

Not to be just a biased The-Dream fan, but seriously, this record goes hard! I loved it on first listen, but you HAVE to bump this in your car!

Don't like the hook at all. It's mad annoying. Truthfully, I'd rather just listen to the instrumental.

Not my favorite Snoop Dogg's "radio-friendly" joint, its in no way as memorable as any of Snoop's classic previous singles. It's something we've seen done BETTER in countless songs on the radio, but it does has that catchy hook from The-Dream and a beating bassline from Tricky that the radio loves so this will get radio spins.

My Prediction: A local Hit and not a global Hit.

It's okay. Catchy. I do agree that this song's going to get extremely annoying in no time at all though. Just like the tune he did with Justin Timberlake.

It's aight...it's not gangstafied like his old school ish but it's in rotation. Kinda reminds me of a "I wanna f...love you" type song.

This track would be far better if it was spelled "Gangsta Love." 8th grade girls spell it "Luv", gangstas do not. And yes, these are the things I obsess over.

in my opinion it is/has a fresh sound, clean beat, nice rhythm track, don't like the vocals, ripe for a remix, easy for a remix, it would maintain a dance floor, i don't know if it would get a dance floor.

Man Snoop needs to go back to his old 90's style flow and beats....i guess he needs to go back to the old snoop!! Not that i mind change but this is far from change it's just something else you would never expect snoop to do!!
It will do good in the radio i believe that!!

snoop has long been an innovator in the game, trying new things, even in his later career (ie. Drop It Like Its Hot, Sexual Eruption)
So im quite surprised that he has decided to choose this as his first single...its not that its that bad of a song, its just it sounds like anything else on the radio at the moment!
Fabolous would have done a much better job on this record imo

I thought after hearin' Snoop on Nipsey Hussle's 'gangster life' that things were lookin a hell of a lot up for him...
I was wrong, well for now, who knows what the rest of his album may hold. All I can say is he hasn't haid an epic/classic album since RnB Rhythmic Gangsta album.. Production is the highlight for me here, they shoulda spent more time on this track instead of rushing it..

@Co-Sign3- i also agree.

that said, i still think this is good. everyone did a great job individually, but it dont mesh all together as well as i want it to. still better than most songs on radio right now.
3.5 im pushin it up cuz Dream chorus is so sick.

I really hope this is one of FEW commercial joints on Snoop's new album. I know what formula hes following, but do you Snoop. Anyone know if he is going to use Neptunes production on any new songs?

This song will get rotation, its made for radio. Just a little knowledge for those wanting Snoop to be the D.O.GG. Snoop is mainstream now, he's gangsta but he's politically correct wit it.

It's sad to see old school rappers conform to this poppy, hip hop garbage. It's catchy, but it's not the Snoop I wanna be hearing. Don't go soft just to make a few bucks.
