If you’ve followed the work of Smokey Robotic then you know the crew has yet to make it through a track without mentioning big booty groupies, Patron shots and explicit sex – and new single Blood Moon is no different. No…wait…I’m sorry, I had them confused with the Ying Yang Twins. My apologies – let’s try this again. If you’ve followed the work of Smokey Robotic you know to expect the unexpected, which means new single Blood Moon is exactly what you expected. As always Smokey members Illmind and Konrad man the boards, cranking out an elecro-drenched beat that works in a vaguely unsettling percussion and string line. The last thing you’d expect to hear over a beat like this is thoroughly sweet pop vocals, so that’s exactly what group vocalists Seer and Father Dude deliver, throwing down a catchy hook that still contains hints of danger: “I want you / I’ll hunt you down / underneath the blood moon.” While Blood Moon isn’t part of a larger project (yet), fans of uncategorizable music can find much more on Smokey’s last Booth-sponsored album The Shark & the Helicopter LP, out now for free streaming and download.

You really never know what you're going to get from Smokey, but that is half the fun. Listening to their music is kinda like opening up a pack of basketball cards when you're a kid.
