Previously heard returning to hip-hop’s Roots on a mixtape cut by DJ Pain1, up-and-coming emcee Smokes takes center stage with his first Booth feature and latest single selection. On the mournful Feelings, an elegiac instrumental by Sean Divine sets the stage for the Wisconsin spitter’s heartfelt meditations on life’s hardships. Topped off with Sara Bella‘s chorus vocal, this record is just one of many quality cuts to be found on Smokes’ The Pre Party LP, scheduled for release tomorrow, October 19.

My honest review. I like it. You're actually saying something with sentiment and meaning behind it which automaticaly puts you above alot of emcees. If I had to be critical I'd add constructive criticism about the production and don't get me wrong.....it's not bad. It sounds polished but thats kinda the issue I have with it. I miss the days of beats made with samples or some other element to it besides the overly pristine sound of all the extraordinary software we have at our disposal these days. I feel like a lil live instrumentation with it or some keys played without quantization, add so much to a piece of music. Sometimes, it just ends up too predictable and lacking soul from a production standpoint. With a message as good and real as yours, it would only seem right to do your voice as much justice as possible from a production standpoint. and dont get me wrong, i like it still....but this is a review and I reviewed it for ya. haha. Anyways though, keep doing what you do and god bless.

I'm not feeling Smokes flow. I think the beat sounds pretty basic but still OK. I know what they were trying to do, but it didn't work for me.
