If there were one label that could be dubbed “DJBooth’s favorite,” Disturbing tha Peace might be it.  In addition to being headed by Luda, DtP is home to reader-approved artists and DJBooth.net Freestyle Series participants Willy Northpole and BXC (and we’re in talks to get Playaz Circle and Shawnna into the Booth as well).  Now, another Booth-approved signee is back with a brand new street single.  Not content with millions, Small World spends this cut dreaming of what he could do with a Billion Dollars.  From upgrading his style and seeing the world to solving Africa’s water shortage and putting a stop to our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the possibilities are endless! Fellow North Carolina native 9th Wonder mans the boards, inspiring Small World to delve deeper lyrically just as the beatsmith did in past collaborations with Little BrotherWorld Premiere, the emcee’s debut opus, is still without a release date, but Billion Dollars might be just the track to get things moving.

9th Wonder does not just bless anyone with a beat, so clearly Small World has enough talent to make this collabo happen. For years I have been anxious to see how DTP marketed SW, but I am not sure this angle will ultimately be to their liking. However, since the jury is still out, I will await word from our Booth community.

As much as I love DTP (as many of our resident DJ's may have noticed), I also think it's possibly the worst record label out there. I know you're probably thinking "What?". Let me explain:

DTP is a powerhouse label; has some great artist Ludacris (my all time favorite rapper), Shawnna, Willy Northpole, I-20, Small World, Field Mob, Shareefa, Playaz Circle, etc. However, the record has NO IDEA how to market any of these artists; they all have a few hit singles but their overall sales never equal their talent. This is why; what do all DTP artists, excluding Luda and Shawnna, have in common?

Weird f***ing voice. I-20's too deep, Will Northpole is too slow, Small World is too raspy...the radio loves clean-cut, smooth voices and these artists stand little to no chance. However, when DTP DOES get artists with radio-friendly persona's, they lose them. Chingy, Bobby Valentino, Serius Jones... I don't get it.

Now that my rant is over; onto the track. The production on this one is solid but does it stand a chance of being a hype record? None whatsoever. It's an enjoyable song but no one is going to hear this and go "Oh s***! I gotta go cop that World Premiere album!" and that's a shame. But then again, with a name like Small World and a voice that sounds like DMX on helium, there's very little that he can do to create hype with any record. Even if they were to get Bobby V on the hook, Luda on a guest verse and Timbaland on the production, his chances are slim to none.

Lyrically, all of DTP is on point and Small World doesn't disappoint. Unfortunately, in today's industry, talent doesn't sell so well. :\

Anyways, this goes in rotation. Had to get all of that off my chest. lol. DTP aggravates me a bit.

I liked the production from 9th wonder, but I just felt like Small World's flow was just kinda boring. The song didn't really go anywhere. It's not bad though.

I don't think I remember a Small World's joint where his writing is better than what is showcased on this track. Definitely liking his approach to the traditional song about "me and my money" ... I wonder why he didn't do this more often. That being said, I still cant call this a banger! It would be a much better product, if his vocals/flow would evolve towards some distinction and not ended up sounding boring ... Rotation fa sho!

@ PHANTOM I DISAGREE AND SAY THAT SHADY AFTERMATH MIGHT BE A TAD BIT WORSE BUT LUDA IS A CLOSE SECOND. FIELD MOB IS ARGUABLY THE MOST LYRICAL GROUP IN THE SOUTH BUT GETS NO PLAY(MAYBE CUZ THEY CANT STAY OUTTA JAIL), BUT YES WITH THE ROSTER THEY HAD LIKE SHADY SHOULD HAVE TAKIN THE GAME OVER. I PERSONALLY THINK SMALL WORLD HAS THAT MARKETABILITY AFTER HEARIN HIS CAROLINA KING TAPE WITH BANKROLL, NEVA BEFORE, AND MR. MAGNIFICENT BUT THIS SONG ISNT THE ONE HE NEEDS BUT IT IS A SOLID TRACK. BUT NOT THE STANDOUT ONE HE NEEDS
