Slaughterhouse - Back on the Scene
Artist: Slaughterhouse
Producer: M-Phazes
Album: Slaughterhouse EP
Label: Shady/Interscope
Royce Da 5’9”, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden, along with Black Sheep front man Dres are all letting us know that Hip-Hop’s Transformers, Slaughterhouse, are officially Back on the Scene. With a line up like this, along with that damn near classic album they dropped in ’09, I for one have been fiendin’ for more from the supergroup. Since then, all four memebrs have dropped fire mixtapes or freestyles, and being the borderline Stan that I am for Slaughterhouse, my expectations based on recent material has been sky high. Honestly, though, I’m not sure if this lives up to them. While all four emcees bodied their verses over M-Phazes’ bouncy, throwback influenced track (peep the The Choice is Yours sample), it was almost like I’ve been spoiled by their over-lyricism, so when they don’t come as hard as I expect, I feel cheated. But that’s my hang up, sorry friends. Dres’ hook brings back memories of a time when spitting like these guys was the norm and his voice definitely brings his signature energy to the single. So let the debate begin! Who came hardest? Good use of the sample? Are you picking up the new LP on Feb. 8th?

There are very few artists (or groups) who embody the meaning of hip hop in today's game. Slaughterhouse are among the few. A song that is a clear throwback to the Golden Years, which is as strong as you can get from a collective.

Just because these guys drop constant Bangers doesn't mean we should rate them lower when they don't drop what would be classic for anyone else. This track is bangin, even if it isn't quite up to par wit the near-classic material dropped on their album. Anyway, it's great to hear from these cats again. Joe had the best verse wit Joell in a close 2nd.

Lovin this track!! Every verse is strong and M-Phazes continues to demonstrate why he is becoming one of the most sought after producers in the game.

Definitely the best rap group since the Wu Tang. What can u expect this is Slaughterhouse. A group with 4 of the best rappers in the game. Royce, I think, had the best verse.
Royce > Budden > Ortiz > Crooked I |

Im really feeling this from Slaughterhouse. They really made a great record right here. M-Phazes did fantastic on the production value in this. Every verse was really dope in this. They all really really went in. The chorus is really catchy as well. This is a really enjoyable, high energy record. A banger for sure.

Has a sample of "The Choice is Yours" by Black Sheep, which is a great song. This one isnt as good but still has the same feel.

I think this was just done to let us know they're still alive, I guess it's cool. Would've expected something better from their short hiatus.

From any Hip Hop or Rap collective a track like this would put you on the map or get you noticed. Being as they are noticed already by true Hip Hop heads, this is definitely a type of filler track to give you a new taste on whats to come. Just easy to listen to everyone on it and the flows are without question some of the smoothest in their transition from person to person.
