Slaughterhouse - Sun Doobie
Artist: Slaughterhouse
Producer: Mr. Porter
Album: The Slaughterhouse E.P.
Label: Shady/Interscope
Is Slaughterhouse on track to become the best super-group hip-hop has ever seen? Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9”, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz have come a long way since the inception of their now epic group. Within two years Slaughterhouse has built a huge fan base and established themselves as some of the game’s most lyrical emcees. After recently being signed to Shady Records, the foursome will be releasing a self-titled EP on February 8, in conjunction with their feature on the front cover of XXL, but before they do, they’ve released another joint, entitled Sun Doobie, to increase anticipation for their sophomore project. Behind the boards Mr. Porter produces a hardcore track with a grungy drum snare that will have your head nodding from the beginning while Budden, Royce, Crooked and Joell jump on board one by one, delivering raw and cunning lyrics claiming that 2011 is their year. Well, are they right? Is Slaughterhouse poised to take over the game this year? What the hell is a Sun Doobie? We can only assume all our questions will be answered soon.

These four dudes over a Mr. Porter beat? C'mon, I could write a novel. Play, repeat, take an Advil, and call me in the morning.

"Your jeans skinnier than Em is when he eatin healthy" - Royce Da 5'9
Enough said. Just another solid delivery and flow showcased by these 4. Beat is just, well Mr. Porter. Nothing much left to add other than enjoy it, no way you will not. |

Nothing creative or crazy here. Pretty much the same formula they've been doing. All four trading bars over a dope beat. But hell they're really good at it.

What is there to really say? Slaughterhouse crushes mics harder than absolutely any one else, and that's exactly what they've done here. I still have no idea what a Sun Doobie is, but I don't really care. No one's f**king with Slaughter right now.

Since no one has stated it yet, I believe that Sun Doobie was a rapper or a rap group from way back in the day. Apparently, one of them became a porn star. Remember what Em said on "Guilty Conscience?" "No, but I seen the porno with Sun Doobiest." Nice track by the way.. 4/5

It's okay, the album will probably be disappointing if this is supposed to be one of their better tracks...They've had better, and they will have better.

Sh*t's a banger. Stuntin' over a Mr. Porter beat. I can get with it. Can't wait to hear their Shady album though cause I'm sure they're saving the best production / rhymes for that instead of the E1 project.

I just hope bandwagon-riding-Soulja Boy-bumping-ringtone-listening-hip pop-slamming Slaughterhouse fans don't ruin it for me someday.

But there's no such foul creature of the night alive and of this world. That would be like finding Edward Cullen listening to Crank Dat in my closet; impossible,
