Insomnia’s a pain in the ass. Believe me, I know. I’ve been up way too many times watching ridiculous infomercials until the late a.m. (Snuggies? Come on, America, we’re better than that.). But while I was watching a commercial about how to slow roast my Thanksgiving turkey, legendary lyricist Skillz was Up All Night putting his sizable talents to good use. All Night is the first leak off his next project, a soulful cut that describes the trials and tribulations of working around the clock to perfect his craft. The upbeat sample (contributed by Rik Marvel) does its job to help twist Skillz’s narrative into a full-blown autobiography (you can actually see his story develop with each stanza). The best part for the listeners of this track is the fact that Skillz already knows that the benefits outweigh the costs: “Anything worth having is worth the sacrifice, right? So I’ll sleep when I’m dead, welcome to my life.” If you like this record (which we’re sure you will), check out Infamous Quotes, due out December, 1.

"Anything worth having is worth the sacrifice, right?" Yes.

And this record is proof. I cannot WAIT for the 2009 Rap-Up. What a year.

Mr. Rap Up himself! I want him to get a hit and blow up. Unfortunately I don't think this is it. Still a solid track but I dont see it getting played beyond hip hop heads' ipods.

Skillz is a tight lyricist... love each years rap ups, but its a shame that the rap ups are the only thing people know bout him... his last album was dope especially that jaun with Philly Freeza... Don't act like you don't know... this record is infectious, got a nice bounce to it and Skillz can ride a beat with some of the best

this recor as cool as it is, is not quite ready for "in rotation" status, but it is dangerously close. The hook works smoothly, but something in the production is a little off, I think it could benifit from a slower tempo, but i'm def. not opposed to hearing more from him, he most def. has talent.

I think we're all waiting for Skillz' Chris Brown/Rihanna line on the 2009 Rap Up...in terms of the matter at hand, I'm liking it, not loving it. Just didn't grab me.

Feelin' the production, a nice melodic party starter and Skillz's rhymes bout his lifestyle and never ending grind are tight. Female crooning on the hook is just the extra icing on the cake. BANGER!!!

What a year this has been and it's still not done people! The amount of Albums I've purchased this Year is INSANE. Will definitely broke down the list on... on... 2009 Rap-Up thread.

This beat is cool but I don't know why it didn't catch me as it should. Maybe I find his flow a lil weak? Good song but wouldn't put it on repeat
