Over the years, rappers have boasted about their style by describing it as “hot,” “fly” or one of many other adjectives.  However, if you asked Virginia veteran Skillz about the one word that best describes his style, he would undoubtedly utter “sick.”  Giving a hip-hop history lesson, Skillz describes Sick as Dr. Dre meeting Eazy E., Beyonce appearing on Star Search, or Lil’ Wayne using the expression “wobbity wobbity” during his early years.  It’s easy to tell an old-school street banger when the beat underscores the lyrics (not the other way around), and in this case a jazz saxophone provides the appropriate backdrop.  Skillz will release his new album, Million Dollar Backpack, on Koch Records later this spring.

I notice how he name drops a lot in his song. Dope lyrics and concept though. I'm a semi-fan of Skillz. I'll cosign for him.

People get on Skillz because he enunciates all his words and uses pop culture. How does that make any sense? Dude can spit, he is amusing, and overall a breath of fresh air. Plus, this beat is bananas. Please disagree with me, strong opinions start great conversations...

Ya I disagree w/ ya too DJ Z: This guy is good at the year end rap ups, but "Get of the Boo Boo" was terrible, and this song made me "Sick."

I will admit that is was kinda tight how the song ended though! : )

It's ok. He might be a good writer, however his lyrics are meant for other artists and not for him. He does have basic lyrics with a basic delivery. Personally, I think he's just right in the middle of the pack. In the meantime, the beat is killin' 'em. Rate 2.5.
