As 2009 begins, many are re-capping the notable events of ‘08, but no one does it better than the man who has made it a tradition since 2002 – that’s right, the one and only Skillz is back to give his Rap Up ‘08; covering everything that happened from the Giants’ Upset of the Century in Super Bowl XLII to this past December when lame duck President Bush went to Iraq and almost got “a-shoe-sinated.” However, the biggest event of the year according to Skillz (and so many others) was by far Barack Obama’s election as our new President, and the VA MC goes on to give his opinion how his people can change their lives for the better (after all, nobody can change everything all by himself). Still, the message remains the same; here’s to the memories 2008 brought, and let’s make 2009 another year to remember!

BayouSwag45, it makes PERFECT sense. Hip hop is not about sales! Period. I dug the Lil Wayne album, but he didn't make my list over the ones I named. It's that simple.

Ain't it? And he's right, Bayou, on every point. It was a decent release, just to me not as strong as some of the ones I mentioned.
Some other things to add.. I've decided to put Letter to the King (totally forgot about it) at #6 in my list, so everything else gets pushed down, and Magic Hour taken out. Then Green Light over Slaughterhouse and nothing moved down or up. Comeback of '08: Q-TIP Videos of '08: Paris, Tokyo, Why Me? & Karaoke (lmao) Remixes of '08: The Music Industry, Don't Touch Me (Throw Da Water On 'Em)& Game's Pain Emcee of '08: Nas Rookie of '08: Wale Takeover '09: Konvict! Eminem and Dre if they get their stuff released. Needs to die in '09: Autotune songs not from the usual. Give T-Pain his props, like this song says. Looking Forward To: The Believer! The Kanye album if it comes, Blueprint 3, Venom and 50's (just to see what he delivers this time). I was looking forward to B.O.M.B., but not as much as before. I'm not looking forward to LupEND, because I don't think Hip Hop is ready to say peace to Lupe... :::Verses of '08::: 01. America (Third Verse, Nas) 02. The Crazy (Second Verse, Wale) 03. Letter to the King (Third Verse, The Game) 04. Royal Flush (Third Verse, Andre 3000) 05. Letter to the King (Second Verse, Nas) 06. Inhale (First Verse, Common) 07. Last of a Dying Breed (Third Verse, Ludacris) 08. The Show (Third Verse, Black Thought) 09. The Show (Second Verse, Common) 10. Slaughterhouse (Third Verse, Crooked I) :::Best SINGLES of '08::: 01. Hero (Untitled) 02. My Life (L.A.X.) 03. Homecoming (Graduation) (Released in '08) 04. Rising Up (Rising Down) 05. Green Light (Evolver) 06. Paris, Tokyo (The Cool) (Released in '08) 07. Why Me? (Raw Footage) 08. I'm So Paid (Freedom) 09. Heartless (808's & Heartbreak) 10. Universal Mind Control (Universal Mind Control) Other things that didn't make my lists, but worth mentioning; Da Cameo King & If Heaven Was A Mile Away from Termanology, Mixtape Messiah 4 & 5 from Cham of course, Bar Exam 2 from Royce, The New Deal from 10Deep & Benzi and I'll just say so much more. I'm on a roll here, damn. But I'll finish it with the bars of '08... Lace the Macy's, don't have it / A hatred addict / I need faces mad with frowns, when I'm around, or I wasted fabric |

Michael Hannah - I am definitely with you for T.I. Being the BEST ALBUM of '08. It was a close finish between Luda, TI, Lil Wayne, and Nas...I really wanted to give it to Nas for his album but there is still just too many songs that I skip to say its the best all together. TI's album can be played through from start to finish, along with Ludacris' album. T.I. takes it and Lil Wayne comes in a close second to me because the impact of the album is just CRAZY and it was just a great album from a GREAT MC. Nas comes in 3rd because he actually had an EXCELLENT Message for the American People. Song of the year has to be Lollipop because it broke barriers and is like the poster-child song for the new Hip-Rock type style that is starting to emerge...
