Since 2002, it seems that no year is complete without Virginia-native Skillz‘ “rap-up” of everything and anything that went down the previous 12 months. Straight from Koch Records we present the 2007 edition, where Skillz touches on Cam’ron‘s “Cuuuurtis” chant in January to T.I. and T.I.P. going under house arrest on fed gun charges this past fall. Of course, no Rap Up would be complete without Skillz’ witty commentary, which includes (but is certainly not limited to) Lil’ Wayne and T-Pain‘s frequent guest appearances and grown-ups trying to do the “Crank That Soulja Boy.” Now that 2007 has officially been “rapped-up,” stay tuned to see what 2008 will bring…
Skillz is finally getting some recognition for his annual rap-ups! Ever since '02 they have been getting more popular year after year and now I'm hearing this on my local radio station. Skillz may not be the best MC but he says his rap-ups hilarious and entertaining point-of-view. What is this "Rose Version"? It's sick!
Being from VA and done bumped elboys with Mad at a few joints got to give it up to him he hit d@mn near all the topics he needed to. Richmond VA stand UP
As much as people say 2007 was a bad year in music, I would most certainly disagree. Releases from Common, Lupe, Kanye, Jay-Z, Alicia, Chris and Mario impressed the hell out of me. Who were some of your favorites? (Feel free to include into feedback on record)
I liked Common, Lupe, Kanye, Chamilionaire, and JR Writer myself z but yea i love rap ups they kinda funny but then again its da truth dats whats up speakin of 08 watch out for my mixtape comin out
Jay-Z and Lupe score on my top-2 albums of the year. Pharoahe Monch and Talib's albums were madly slept on. Tons of quality underground rap hit the shelves: Blu & Exile, Brother Ali, El-P, Black Milk, Evidence, Median. '07 was a great year!
Best albums go to Lupe, Jay-Z & Chamillionaire (who I'm now a fan off), best songs... there's a lot. I won't even touch that, haha. Lil Wayne went from my favourite rapper to one of my least liked to someone who I just can't decide on, ever. Hmm... what else. R.I.P. Pimp C, won't ever forget that... Akon and Cool & Dre our now my favourite producers... Oh yea, and I found DJ Booth! That's defaintly one of the best parts. Haha. Damn, there's a lot. The-Dream proved to be a talented singer, though I didn't love his album, there were four or so that did stick out and I do like. Wale and another artists who's name I've forgotten... I think they'll blow up in 08.. Shit, you know what, there's too much. Haha.
Skills always come's through with a Banger ass year Wrap-up and honestly...All of them are classics because he has an all to real point of view of the year's highlights...Really, really sick!
Oh and this is for you Z...My favorite albums of 08 including mixtapes
50 Cent Curtis, Lil Wayne The Drought 3, Lil Wayne and Juelz Santana Can't feel my face mixtape, Kanye West Graduation (well 50% of it anyway), Cassidy, Stylz P album and mixtape, Pharoah, Collie Buddz, T-Pain Mixtape (better than album), Justin, Robin Thicke Evolution, Sheek Louch Mixtape The Howling, Jim Jones MOB mixtape and Harlem American Gangsta Mixtape...
I think that's about it...and I am sure a few more Lil Wayne mixtapes are in there somewhere...Wasn't feelin the Jay-Z album at all...
