As anyone who’s, say, endured an extended period of unemployment is well aware, too much downtime does dangerous things to your mindstate – and, if you’re bluesing to begin with, idleness never fails to drive you deeper into a slump. On his latest single and first Booth feature as a headliner, Jersey repper Silent Knight makes the wise observation that, when life gets you down, Stayin’ Busy is often the best medicine. The Audible Doctor looks to indie artist Feist for inspiration, flipping the singer/songwriter’s soulful Limit to Your Love into a dreamy but determined backdrop for Knight’s verses, in which he eloquently defends his tendency to put in overtime in pursuit of his dreams: “We buildin’, so grind mode is reality; a state of mind, an ele-mentality / You say you want it, OK, well, how badly? I’ll be honest, it’s not a phase or a fad to me.” Sure to ring true to anyone “trying to see a vision through to the fullest extent,” this cut is just one of many hard-hustling joints on Silent Knight’s Busy Is My Best Friend mixtape, scheduled to hit the ‘net February 15.

We've featured Silent Knight before, but always as the featured artist on a song. One listen to "Stayin Busy" and that all changed. A really sold hip hop record, indeed.

Wow, im surprised. I didnt know what to expect, but the beat is fire and Silent Knight has great delivery/lyrics. The way the vocal samples comes in and out is sick.

That sample is absolutely gorgeous, and when the beat kicks in it's just as good. Props to Audible.
And Knight more than back up the production - I'm really digging the honesty and passion. Damn this is a nice day for indie hip-hop on the Booth.

Love the sample and the beat. But beyond that, Silent Knight's lyrics keep it real to a degree most MCs cannot bring themselves to imagine. Threading his honesty with poetry and flow, he weaves a work that's truly special.

To give this track any less than five stars is unfathomable. That beat is hot and Silent Knight is a superior emcee. His EP next week is going to be fire. Check for it.

The beat is sweet - but the lyrics are the kicker. This is an artist who connects with a passion that shines through the talent he clearly possesses. The beat and vocal sample are integrated in such a way that they add to, not detract, from the overall feel of the track. Very much looking forward to the album!
