Sid Sriram

Not featured since September of 2013, when he capped off promotion for his Booth-hosted West Coast Nightfall Pt. 1 tape with video single Superstar, Sid Sriram returns to our front page with the inaugural song release (and title track) off his next project. To my overactive imagination, “SAGETRON” sounds like the name of an extremely wise robot, but this cut is more about emotional subtlety than cold, mechanical logic. Sriram handles production, crafting an atmospheric, reverb-drenched arrangement that grows in intensity without ever reaching a climax. Over his sweeping boardwork, he delivers lyrics which, while cryptic at times (”Tiny vessels of insomnia come freezing through my body.”) draw power from his heartfelt delivery. Matthew Moore McMahon directs the joint’s meditative visual accompaniment. SAGETRON (the LP) currently lacks a drop date, but we’ll keep you supplied with further singles and release details as they emerge.
