Shwayze (Aaron Smith) - Over And Over
Artist: Shwayze (Aaron Smith)
Producer: Cisco Adler
Album: Island In the Sun
Label: Suretone Records
When your first real introduction to the world comes courtesy of a MTV reality show it might seem like the perfect recipe for a flame out, and to be sure plenty of haters expected Shwayze (or as the IRS calls him, Aaron Smith) to disappear as quickly as he came. But instead the Cali artist has soldiered on, following his recently released Love Letter with today’s brand new offering, Over and Over. Smith’s constant musical companion Cisco once again takes over behind the boards, opening with a piano driven ballad that quickly builds into a quickly paced, percussion driven beat. On the mic Schwayze is soaked in SoCal heartbreak, contemplating the loss of a recent love while the sun sets over the Pacific: “Please, go ahead and leave / I wouldn’t wait for you so don’t wait for me.” Add in some vocal backing from Sophie Stern and a closing verse from Kendrick Lamar and you might just find yourself playing this…wait for it…Over and Over. If so, be sure to check out the duo’s recently released album, Island in the Sun, now available at your friendly neighborhood iTunes.

Its not a single, so I cannot hate on a roughly 5 minute song. However, if it were to become a single - and it has that potential - I would suggest 2 less minutes. Nice hip pop record featuring a white hot emcee (Kendrick).

I like the piano here. Still that California laid back style, but spittin out lyrics left and right. Good track!
