When the words “Barbados” and “major artist” are put together, a certain Def Jam signee typically comes to mind. Set to join RiRi in worldwide Bajan representation is SRP/SRC recording artist Shontelle, who is about to give the world a dose of Shontelligence with her numerous musical influences. With a forthcoming girls’ night out on the horizon, the St. James native doesn’t feel “right” wearing her expensive outfit without her man in tow. Luckily, she finds a T-Shirt he left at her pad and sure enough, it does the trick until he returns home. Although many listeners won’t be requesting this new cut in the clubs, the Wayne Wilkins produced T-Shirt is the perfect ballad for any woman who just can’t get used to being without her man.
This is smooth. But it's easy to see she is trying to follow in the footsteps of Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. She is clearly not on the same level as them vocally, but not a bad attempt
Man, this is dope! Also, it's kind of weird, in the pic, she looks like a cross between B & RiRi. Eerie! LOL But Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken's production is highly incredible. I'm feeling her vocally too. The beat reminds me of/gives me the feel of Chris Brown's "With You" though. That's not a bad thing nevertheless though, because it flows really well. This is a solid track. I hope to hear this on the radio soon. This is a great debut track!
As a man, without a girlfriend (ladies? j/k), I cannot personally relate to this song. However, I can grade it musically. Shontelle has a great voice, very similar to Rihanna's, and the production is top notch (as eluded to in the comments above me). Overall, very solid.
I'm not one to relate myself to the music I listen to (it's just about the music for me), and I'm not gonna start now. I think she sounds great, and not generic at all. She has a bit of rihanna vibe going for her but with more of a mainstream pop (a la natasha bedingfield???) feel. I think her voice is really solid, it's probably be masked by the less than challenging vocal arrangement in the lyrics. Oh... I just realized what the track style reminded me on; jordin sparks' tattoo. I definitely see the mainstream appeal of her and I see success in her future (at least short term anyways).
I agree with londons finest, this is similar to With You and Irreplaceable...when I started the player I immediately thought of Beyonce's song! I can't deny I like it, it's a good song, it's only that it's not original...when they start making similar songs you get tired of them!
Just NOT fresh! She can sing, but there’s nothing fresh on this tune. I listen to pop music but hate when it comes formulaic. Really, the melody annoys me, as if it was a fusion of all the songs above mentioned, starting by Irreplaceable, then comes with u, tattoo… :s
Oh, and this is pop for sure, like Jordin Sparks is. And I’m re-rating to give it what it deserves, which is 1.5, just not to consider it total garbage. Really, the chorus is the worst similar part, maybe cuz I don’t like Tatoo.
lol i agree wit u FredRico is do sound like a Tatto song n i hated dat song btw. anyways its a song targeted towards gurls so dats prolly y im not feelin it lol.
I like this song...And it was smart of her production team to create a song similar to the style of music being played today...that'll get her recognized...
i kinda like this even if she sound like the female version of chris brown its kinda cool and catchy....somewhere in the world at least a hand-full of girls...and i hopenot dudes...gon be singin dis song ...its not the best song but she gives it a swing..
Damn come on girls wtf yall so clingy prob a good reason this guy isnt with this chick...hopefully hes screwing some bitches on the mainland...not too bad though.
I like it. Nothing crazy new but its still nice. Her voice is nice and I like what the song is about, it gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling of wearing a t-shirt of a man I love.
I really like this damn song! LOL. She's coming 2 my city on December 6th but I cant go see her......im 2 young. But she is not tryna be anybody @ all. Thats why I like her. 5 stars
