Since Yeezy proclaimed his divinity on I Am a God, so many emcees have followed his lead that the rap game’s starting to feel like Mt. Olympus. As far as Shelton Harris is concerned, both Kanye and his imitators are simply blowing smoke. On his first Booth feature, the Seattle representative reminds his colleagues that, in the fickle world of hip-hop, power is temporary and often fleeting. As he puts it on the hook, “In this game nobody’s safe with the crown, it’s No Gods.” Beatsmith Tyler Dopps, the cut’s co-headliner, crafts a tenacious chopped-piano beat to back Harris as he fantasizes about toppling his genre’s current sacred cows (look out, Kendrick Lamar). This audacious jam isn’t currently attached to a larger set, but those feeing it should stay tuned. We’ll keep you posted on Harris and Dopps’s plans as further details emerge.
