Those who went looking for Shawnna on Luda‘s recently-released Battle of the Sexes LP were destined for disappointment; as it turns out, the former Disturbing the Peace signee’s sneaked off to join T-Pain & co. on the Auto-Tune maven’s own Nappy Boy Entertainment. Appropriately, the Chi-town native is making her return to our pages with a potential single entitled Hide and Seek, which finds her getting to know a few of her new labelmates over an R&B-informed, synth-laden beat by Bishop Jones. While the hook gets a quintuple-dose of soul from Windy City four-piece One Chance and What It Is trio Sophia Fresh, it’s the headliner who steals the show, lacing the track with her signature combo of lyrical freakiness and unpredictable flows. While I am still not sure why Shawnna would think she'd be better off with Pain over Luda (none of my business and I honestly don't care), I do hope that this new label situation produces more music from the Chicago rapstress. Why? Because she was spittin cold lines when Nicki Minaj was in middle school spelling bees (kidding, kinda). Catchy, but nothing out of this world. The hook should have been better.

As I believe I've said before, if you've seen Shawnna live you know what a talented emcee she is. Seriously, she'd kill almost any rapper, of any gender, you could name. Unfortunately her full mic skills aren't on display here, but it's still enjoyable. Liked it, nothin that memorable.

I think it was a good move for Shawnna. DTP is too iffy. She was under used over there and probably the best thing they had after Luda.

Hang on? This is weird, I just gotta change my mood to adjust my likin' to the song. Um. That's better. Shawna soundz aight, but just can;t get into t. Song makes me feel I'm in a bar with all the lights turned down

Cool hook and a nice beat, but Shawnna breezes through this and lacks anything truly memorable about her verses. Easily forgettable.

Not the greatest track in Nappy Boy could have put out...I think they got something good cookin...I think this may be one of those throw away tracks they decided to put out so that they can keep their names in the media.

This is that joint you find on some mixtape and it's catchy in your ride or when you got your "whoever" with you for some sexy time, lol. But i dont see this takin off or nada. Not a bad track tho.

I personally like Shawnna'a naughty girl lyrics and soft voice pretty consistently. So, even with her label move, I'm feelin this one jus the same. It bangs in my car nicely.. Keep it comin Shawnna.
