First things first: Shootin’ Cops, the latest leaked track off Numonics’ forthcoming street album, is not a spiritual successor to Ice-T’s infamous Cop Killer. In fact, the title doesn’t have a whole hell of a lot to do with the record itself, which finds the West Coast beatsmith serving up an intricate synth/bell instrumental as Inglewood natives Shawn Chrystopher and El Prez, along with Boston representative J The S (who also contributes a flowed hook) deliver their thoughts on a wide variety of topics, from weed and cash to – in Jake’s case – kidnapping rings and Mountain Dew-induced infertility (I think?). On a track this packed with talent, is it possible to pick a favorite verse? I can’t, but I’m sure you’ll have some thoughts on the matter. The IM KING/DJBooth.net/sponsored Being Cool Doesn’t Pay the Bills mixtape has been pushed back from its March 29, release to a yet-unspecified date due – stay tuned for the latest! – but those digging the record can tide themselves over with Animal Style and Wish You Were Here, the recent, Booth-sponsored street albums from El Prez and J The S, as well as Shawn Chrys’ brand new EP, The Audition.

I really don't enjoy the hook, but Shawn Chrystopher is great. The dude on the 2nd verse is okay, too. Same with 3rd.

There is one constant when it comes to a track produced by Numonics - its always the stand out feature of the song. That becomes increasingly difficult when a track has as much up-n-coming talent as the stupidly-titled "Shootin Cops" (ha), but it holds true here. Nice work all around.

This song is really tight. Cool beat. Shawn Chrys and El Prez spit some hard lines. J The S was solid.

Not a fan of the title but Shawn Chrystopher's verse was nice. Numonics brought this from OK to rotation

I like this, but there was something keeping me from really digging it, and I think it's the hook. It's not bad on its own, but it almost sounds like its for another song, it doesn't match the tempo of the production. Still, uber-solid verses from all three emcees balance out at three stars.

1st of all, good to see J the S gettin' out there more, 2nd, that beat is a BEAST! 3rd, all spat well & true on this, banger. I think the chorus could've used some work..

It probably would have been better to call this track "Feel This Way." Or "Don't Ask Why." Or "Bills To Pay." Or "A Song NOT Called Shootin' Cops" lol

I agree w/ the consensus, that hook was not up to par with the rest of the song

Dope track , i dont see why people care about the title. I think its fresh. i know i aint the only one whos felt like shootin a cop. although i would never do it. if u listen to the track it puts the title in a much better context. makes every one wanna cop some land and murk a pig. good job.
