Due to some, shall we say outlandish, behavior in recent years, many critics have called Sean Combs a sellout, but today rapper Shaun Boothe will let you be the judge. On his new track Unauthorized Sean Combs, Boothe draws on some deep historical hip-hop knowledge and presents the life story of the artist known simply as Puff Daddy/Puffy/Diddy. While a collection of classic Bad Boy samples play in the background (see if you can name them all), lyrically Boothe leaves no stone unturned, starting with his young life, his father’s murder and how he got his famous nickname (“…as a kid he’d always puff out his chest when he’s angry”) and then intricately chronicling his rise through the hip-hop ranks and of course touching on his historical partnership with Biggie: “A diamond in the rough, Puff polished it.” What can I say? Boothe’s like a hip-hop Ken Burns. Fans can expect more fresh biographies when Boothe’s album Hip Hop in 3D drops in January 2010.

There are not many artists these days who can spit for 5 minutes about one topic and keep me entertained. Shaun just did it (again). Watch out in 2010 for this young man.

I'm gonna be honest... This is an absolutely sick song. The way they used all those production samples and he straight up told a story through the whole song. This kid is talented.

Putting Aside That This Song Is All About Puffy .. I Get The Picture And The Idea Behind It, Which Was A Creative Idea .. Flipping Beats And Giving All The Fun Facts About Mr. Puff .. But - Not Really Feelin' It .. I'll Have To Give Shaun Another Listen When He's Spittin' About Some Other Topic - But The Flow Here Was So, So ..

Outside of the amazing accompanying self-production, the story and progression intertwined in this track help to take things to another level. There's clearly talent within. His other track titled "Poor Boy" is legit as well!

Unbelievable sampling and spit’n and it flowed. I’m impressed that he actually told the story and it came off as well as it did. I can’t wait to hear the one on Oprah. Pure Talent!!

So I did a report on Combs back in high school, sounded very similar. But who would think to make a song about him?? Good info though.

I will give him a classic rating because he is doing what Nas did with Rakim on Nas' Streets Disciple Album. Boothe did a great job with the production and had great flow throughout the whole song. can't wait to hear more from him!!
