Sharam - She Came Along ft. Kid CuDi
Featuring: Kid CuDi
Producer: Sharam
Album: Get Wild
Label: Ultra Records
On hearing the intro to Booth newcomer Sharam‘s She Came Along, I did a double-take, plugged in my headphones, and started the track over. I had to listen to that opening fade-in three or four times just to wrap my head around how smooth it is—if the Arlington, Virginia producer wasn’t dressed as a cowboy, I’d swear he was some kind of wizard. Based around a sample from Patsy Cline’s Strange, Sharam’s instrumental is the undisputed star of the cut, which is high praise considering you’ve also got up-and-comer Kid CuDi on the mic; pleading with an ex who left him for another woman, he spits, “Didn’t anybody tell you sex is better in threes?” It’s completely weird—weirder still, it all adds up to a cohesive whole; the end result sounds like country-rap from some bangin’ alternate dimension, and, judging by Sharam’s promo photos, that’s exactly what he was going for. The producer’s latest studio album, Get Wild, is available now digitally, and is scheduled to hit store shelves April 7th.

I don't normally give 5-baggers.... but... this is some of the best production work of the year and CuDi sounds brilliant.

Yeah this production is sick on here. Kid CuDi is doin some work lately. He was great on here and the hook was good too. The end result = 4.5

That introduction was 5-stars by itself. Kid CuDi did a good job maintaining my attention. Not too pleased with the vocals in that sample, in particular, the style. The production was ideal as you expounded upon DJ Z, but yeah, honestly, that classic sample gave me gas.

Very original, and kinda refreshing with all of the synthy and club beats popular nowadays. Nice, smooth, and beautiful is this production. The sample works well too, and CuDi sounds tight over the production. Could we be seeing a Sparxxx-type country influenced hip hop album again? or a rise of country (hick) hop? we'll see...

I ain't gonna front, the first few seconds of this song i was thinking to myself "what kind of looks/double takes will I get rollin around philly with this blaring but CuDi definitely comes straight on this joint. I love the part "Why can't the three of us just be people" ( I think that is accurate" That line is dope the way the beat fades and returns. Has the feel of like an old Elvis song with hip hop verses. Love it.

Damn, I must be missing something here...either that or this is simply just not my style. The beat is very different, but not really that good. It has a very POP type sound to it and the lyrics are pretty bad. I would never listen to this song again. The Chorus is weak too.

the beat is innovative yet fitting... the beat makes this a song that will take a while to get out of your head.... Producer brings out a really vibrant sample, & CuDi does a good job only saying as much as he
needs to on this.... |

Damn, how I feel you Blaze... I don't get what's goin on! I don't like how the tempo (percussion) goes with the music, it sounds forced, out of place... (I actually prefer when it breaks down at 2:27). I don't like the overall melody. The bassline gets old fast and then annoying as it repeats itself.

CuDi comes off kanyeish, not sure if thats a good thing or not. The beat isn't as smooth to me(KEY WORD: TO ME) as it is to others here, it feels contrived. The bassline doesn't match, it just feels corny.

Gotta say, I've NEVER heard something like this on the Booth before. And while it's not what we typically come to expect, I can't hate here. The production is crazy. Smooth, entertaining, different. I applaud everything on this track just for being willing to try somethin new. Can't knock Cudder either. This one is just crazy.

Amazing track! I am a big fan of Deep Dish, when did Sharam go Cowboy on us?
Its always good to hear something truly FRESH and this qualifies. I agree with earlier comments in that Cudi only adds just enough of his stuff and lets the beat do its thing. I can also see why some people wouldnt feel this one so I cant hate. Personally I find it incredible. |

HOLY SH*T!!! Am I hearin Patsy Cline on the Booth???? Damn! What's the world comin to? lol. I dunno how you can hate this song....I mean, it's Cudi, and the Queen of Country music. I knew it'd be good cuz it's Cudi, then I heard the first couple seconds, and it was banger. Then I heard Patsy, and it hit Classic status!!

Wow...I'm still speechless and I've now been listening to this masterpiece for about a week now.
Production = Tight. Patsy Cline Hook = Tight. Kid CuDi = Tight. CuDi is pretty much the perfect artist to have on this track...he sounds brilliant and this can only add to his significant buzz right now, as it should to Sharam's as well. This song is in HEAVY ROTATION for me and I'm making sure as many of my closest friends here it as well...if you're always complaining about the radio, forget the radio and come to the BOOTH! Probably my fave track of the year so far. Just picked up the Sharam album yesterday (2CD) and it doesn't disappoint (although don't expect too many of the same type of joints as this....so hard hip hoppers beware). |

Anytime you can seemlessly incorporate a chorus from a country song from way back when that actually adds substance to the entire song you got an instant classic. Incredible sound and mind blowing intro.

@adawafle - I totally agree. Hell, I wish they'd do this with Patsy Cline's "Midnight." That sh*t would be fire too. I love old Country, and I love new Hip-Hop. But who would have ever thought of putting the two together? Insane fire.

I notice that a lot of the negative comments about this song have to do with how 'differen't or how uncategorizable (I made that up, I think) it is. That's how music is SUPPOSED to be. This song is hot. Is it hip-hop? Country? Techno? It is all, rolled up into one. That's what makes it unique. And Cudi's not retiring anymore, thank goodness.

wow, first off, kanye got his inspiration from cudi.. cudi has a very creative drive.. im in between here.. i love that the beats are all meshed up.. cudi is unique in his works.. though this isnt a classic, it sure had me listen to it more than once.. just because its 'different' doesnt make it garbage.. music brings all kinds of style and flavor, you have to find your taste thats all..

@QUEENS GIRL...ARE YOU KIDDING? KANYE HAS MORE TALENT IN HIS LITTLE FINGER THAN CUDI EVER WILL! The only thing Cudi has on Kanye is his voice, but he doesnt use it to say sh!t. Kanye and Cudi have similar attitude and swag, but Cudi's greatest success doesnt even amount to kanye's greatest failure. Haha he's like a stoner version of kanye. Plus Kanye makes revolutionary beats! They are comparable as rappers, but not even close as artists...but LMFAO @ that picture. I like this song a lil more with each listen, it just fires well on all cylinders. To those who say this isn't their style, i'm guessing they don't appreciate country(i.e. chess records, ect.) The hook is what ties the beat to Cudi's verses.
