As anyone who’s watched Sliding Doors knows, sometimes the difference between success and defeat, love and loss is only a matter of seconds. But hey, lets not get caught up in the fact that I just admitted I’ve seen a Gwenyth Paltrow chick flick – instead I’d like to direct your attention to Shanell’s 2 Seconds Too Late. Cash Money’s new alternative songstress, Shanell continues to add to her impressively growing DJBooth catalog with 2 Seconds, grabbing producer Catalyst for a beat that veers cleanly between pop, R&B and guitar-laced rock. But it’s the headliner’s vocals that truly elevate this one as Shanell displays a range and emotionality we haven’t necessarily heard from her before, letting her man know that it’s just too little, too late to win back her heart. I don’t want to prejudice our commenters, like you guys ever listen to me anyway, but this sounds like a hit to me. No word yet on a release date for her upcoming, heavily punctuated album Nobody’s @*#$!, but you can count on the Booth to be right on time with the details. Get it? Right on time? Nevermind.

I am going to have to agree with Nathan's prediction above. We are not in the prognostication business, but this sounds like a radio-ready hit record to me. Crossover radio should get this into rotation first. All the necessary elements are on display on "2 Seconds."

Girl has a weird nose piercing. Her vocals are nice and smooth. Not my type of song but definitely sounds like it might be on the radio.

A little unexpected style from Shanell, but I really like it. Like everyone's already said this is a no-brainer radio song....but Shanell still does her part delivering with solid vocals.

Agree this is radio-ready for sure. Solid vocals from Shanell, compliments the track well. Shes probably the most underrated artist in the YM camp.. shouldn't be for too long

Sorry, but I need a bit more rock authenticity from my Urban/Rock hybrids. I'm not a fan of that type of thing except for when Nikki Lynette does it. Never heard anyone else execute it without sounding forced

Shanell is just a great artist, she is too underrated for her own good. I don't care about who doesn't like her, the point is she did just as well on her song "Save Me" as this song "2 Seconds Too Late". It's just people didn't pay any attention to her previous Shut Up and Listen mixtape. Even her A Taste of Shanell mixtape before that one. You guys should listen to "Suckaz In Love" and "Substitute Lover" if y'all haven't, and think she's not ready.
