Shane Eli‘s reader-acclaimed debut full-length, The Push, has been available on our mixtape page for a minute now, but unlike, say, a gallon of milk from your local supermarket, good music stays fresh no matter how long you leave it out (which reminds me, I really oughtta clean out my fridge when I’m done here…). For proof, we present I Wonder, a standout track which finds the Los Angeles native (and freestyle series alum) reflecting on life, music, and the pursuit of big dreams. As usual, Eli flies solo, handling both production and mic duties. Over his own understated, piano-led boardwork, the artist meditates on the progress he’s made to date, expressing thanks for each new day and urging us to ignore those who advise us to set the bar low – in his own words: “Don’t let anyone tell you that it’ll never happen / you’re capable of anything you can imagine.” I Wonder is just one of many inspiring cuts on Shane Eli’s DJBooth.net-sponsored freshman set, available here for streaming and free download.

Without coming across as sappy or corny, "I Wonder" is close to the perfect roll-out-of-bed-jam. Honestly, this is Shane Eli the complete package (artist, producer, performer). In fact, if you listen to this song and enjoy it, I am pretty sure you'll use the entire "Push" album as your everyday soundtrack.
Thank me later... |

No disrespect but he must be yall's friend or something. He's an okay lyricist but that's about it. Of course he will get better as he gets more practice & confidence. If you put him in front of people he doesn't know would he shine or get boo'd? That's an honest question. I do however hope that Shane & other locals make it. The grind his hard so I never wish ill will, but lets keep it real people.

Shane always comes through with his lyrics. It's about time that artists rap about something a bit deeper than models and bottles. I love the smooth production which lets the lyrics take the lead. I have Shane's mixtape and it is one of the few that can be listened all the way through without hitting skip.

I agree with RaySR, just not feelin him. I think he needs to get out a bit more. The Push mixtape had some nice production but was lacking punch for me.

Great track for MTV unplugged. But for your introduction into hiphop not a great single. Nice lyrics bad beat selection.
