Serius Jones - You Wrong
Artist: Serius Jones
Producer: Sinatra for Chief Execs
Album: Serius Bizness 2
Label: Unsigned
If you were a fan of Serius Jones’ Serius Bizness mixtape, then get ready for round two. With the help of Sinatra (of Chief Execs) on production, and a nice little Luther Ingram sample, Serius gives listeners a sneak peek at the project in the form of single You Wrong. Sinatra, who has worked with everyone from Willie Da Kid to Juelz Santana, provides the track with some late-90’s New York head-bobbin production that can’t help but remind us of the Dipset days. As usual, Serius comes with that laid-back yet assertive flow that makes us really pay attention to what exactly he’s saying, as well as a catchy hook which has potential to become a hustlers’ anthem. Serius Jones looks to be getting real serious with his new mixtape, which is scheduled to drop May 17. Although the path of a battle emcee turned mainstream has given Serius some problems (DTP), if he continues to release tracks like this one he just might get the radio play he deserves.

Definitely some 90s NY production on this track. Right from the intro it has that sort of feel to it. Something I can real get in to.
As for Jones' verses, they leave something to be desired. They have that raw and rough aura to them, but outside of the "Jesus isn't God" line, nothing really stuck with me. I would love to hear him on a different track with some better wordplay that appeals to his flow, it just doesn't come together on this track. The production is the winner on "You Wrong" for me. Serious Jones doesn't strike out on this song but I'll give him a walk to first. Looking forward to hearing more from him. |

JR hit it on the head in his above review. This is the kind of song - thanks to the production work - that takes ya back to the late 90's/early 00's. This is definitely something Juelz would have rocked on his debut release. Serius' rhyme style is interesting over the beat, especially because his flow is not laid back and lazy (rather high energy and full of life). It isn't radio ready, but its a dope mixtape cut.

As soon as that beat drop I was thinking about the diplomats and that late 90's music. I like Serius and I think he did just enough to make people a little more curious of what he can do.

Soooo Serius Jones the mixtape rapper is way different than Serius Jones the freestyler. I'm having mixed feelings about this track. One thing for sure is I love the beat. It took a few plays for me to vibe with everything else. His third verse is my most liked verse but the most odd one in the song. The sample at the beginning to me doesn't fit Jones' wrong anthem. I wanna like it I really do but I'm just left feeling short handed.

aytomatically im lovin lovin lovin the sample haha but why why this flow on a beat like that it just sounds like a hot mess!
lyrics are well done on this song there was no point in trying to rush this song out so fast because theres just no togetherness AT-ALLLL. way too ruin a potentionally great song with a beat that sounds confused. the implanted chorus within the beat along with the clashes sound annoying after awhile and icant pay attention too serious jones so i think this is the first time ive ever handed a song 2 wow good job for Fing this song sinatra for chiefs exec |

I liked the beat it was good, but Serius' flow just didn't work with it. All he'd have to do is use a different beat and the song would work.

"You think I ain't nice. You think I ain't hard." Yea, you pretty much took the words right out of my mouth Serious Jones. In all seriousness though, the 90s feel of the beat was pretty nice, but Jones really didn't live up to this beat's true potential. Potential meaning, the energetic vibe and the little "You Wrong" sample chilling out in the background.
I can't see myself getting into this. I liked his word play on some parts of each verse, however, he is gonna really have to step up his game to get on my good side. Better luck next time Serious Jones. |

Definitely a 90's production song. This beat has too much going on in it for this rapper. Too hard to listen to him with the racket going on in the background. Not a very good song, nothing was sticking with his verses that most good songs have. Nothing worth repeating.

The females soar too high on this. The background vocal is distracting. Not to mention the overwhelming beat. I understand that Serius has a booming style, but his voice and the behemoth orchestra that is the beat perform a clash of titans in which there is no winner.
When the dust settles, the sound is hazy. I can't tell whether I should be focusing on Serius or the beat or the women or... well. You get the point. Get less serious on adding too many layers. |

I agree with my fellow booth members. Although the beat is a nice bouncy affair (on its own), the proceedings occasionally sound crowded and Serius Jones (with a few good punchlines here and there) just doesn't stand out. 2.5

I'm not sure who @*#$! up here; DTP for losing Jones or Jones for leaving DTP? All of Serius' output this past few months have been "In Rotation" at best. What happened to the lyrical slaughterhouse I heard on "Life is Serius"? This is a solid track but I expect more from a man with Jones' potential. (Have you seen this dude's battle with Gin?! The man murders!)
Production on this is a winner though. |

Liking the sample, his voice was kinda too low on this one. Might just be my speakers, but not liking his voice either way. Dude has nice wordplay though.

I love the production work on here but the hook is terrible from Serius. I've heard some really great things from Jones in the past but everything I have heard lately isn't cutting the cake. His flow is decent during his verses but it seems a little different then what I'm use to from him. That hook is just what ruins everything and the production saves it.

Production is mad dipset can't deny it at all and it's dope!! Im feelin his game and appreciate the flo (the 2nd time around b/c i got lost in that beat) but I can't say he's anything dif than the typical bravado chest pumpin with plastic underneath..but can't front shawty's cute (sorry im a visual appreciator too :) I wanna hear something less dip and more original so hope we get that on the mixtape

At first this guy sounded a bit like Freddie Gibbs to me in terms of voice, but I quickly dismissed that. The soul sample makes it sound a bit like a very old kanye production, but its enjoyable none the less. The lyrics are aight and the flow is unimpressing, good try anyway.
2.5 Rounding down. |

Serius provides some smooth lyrics and great flow, but the vocals in the background became extremely repetitive, and almost annoying.
The beat was sick though, and other than the background vocals the production was fire. I really hope he does get the radio time he deserves. |

This production is giving me a headache. Hes all over the place with his flow, and the repetitive nature of the female vocals don't help.

I think the beat takes over the track to much, Serius is nice but he just can’t carry this song all the way through.

As some people above me pointed out, this won't blow up, but is a dope mixtape cut. The production is so 90's-2002's NY production, hope he makes a remix with Juelz which would definetely fit the beat.
