DJ Booth Exclusive Freestyle

The 35th entry in our DJBooth.net Freestyle Series comes courtesy of Serius Jones, the currently-unsigned rapper whose promo single, Help (I Been Robbed) earned rave reviews and made its mark on our Underground Chart earlier this month.  The Jersey native, who flows over an industry instrumental by Dr. Dre (originally featured on The Firm’s Five Minutes to Flush) on his brand new Go Multi freestyle, is preparing for the April 28th release of his Life Is Serius Soundtape, featuring the music from his movie of the same name (viewable here).  Jones’ latest music video, Smoke, can be found here, and fans can look forward to a video version of this Booth-exclusive freestyle in the near future.

YESSSSSSSIR. Back by popular demand (seriously, I got about 10 e-mails asking that Serius jump into this series). Kills it. TRUE freestyle.

Thanks, Will.

Oh YES! His flow is i-to-the-lly! Errbody nailed it there!

Usually, I take up DTP's side as to who they sign, who they drop, etc...Dropping Serius was not one of these kinda moves. He had that appeal for them (maybe if he can get distributed by E1 or something it can work out again)-If there was a freestyle tournament between current DTP rappers and former DTP rappers (and Luda wasn't eligible, of course), then the finals would be Serius Jones vs. Willy Northpole-the battle would be CLASSIC ON BOTH SIDES, no matter who won!

Let me close this the same way he did: "The revolution WILL be web-i-vised!"

The Fight Club freestyle champion in the DJ Booth? You know this has got to be a classic. Luda, despite being my favorite rapper, messed up with dropping this one; he's flame.

Serious Jones has legit flow. The beat is perfect for his delivery. The chorus works well with the melody and is really catchy. Hot freestyle!

Actually I am a bit disappointed on this track by Serius. I thought the lyrics would be more original and the chorus would be better. There isn't one line here that makes me think or that makes me say "what did he just say". I am not getting that effect that I get when I watch his Battle rap victory over GIN. This is a letdown in my opinion. The beat is pretty lame at this point in the game and the chorus on the track is weak as well. I am very disappointed...I'll say its OK because Serius is a much better MC than this track is showing and I can't bring myself to calling it Garbage but it is close...

How can someone compare this to a Serius Jones vs. Jin battle. You are suppose to rate the freestyle not rate it compared to something else. Nice flow with the added hook. Better than most of the freestyles I heard in this section. Jones is definitely showing what DTP is missing.

I would like to thank the booth for making this happen coz Serius is serious man! His lyrics were on point and the production brought the old school factor (the production is what you'd expect about 15 years back on a Dr. Dre and Snoop track).
