Similar to fellow Jersey boys Redman and Joe Budden, rapper Serius Jones just couldn’t get any promotion (or backing) for his major label debut, Life is Serius. Despite carrying a Disturbing tha Peace membership card, Jones decided to follow Budden’s example and left the label earlier this year. Now a free agent, the Englewood native has put the promotions work into his own hands and appears ready to go with his new song, Freak Like U. Jones’s new club-ready banger features fellow ex-DTP artist Bobby Valentino (probably recorded when both were still signed there). If this one succeeds, leaving the label will seriusly be his best move yet.
I don't like Bobby Valentino on this track. This does not serves him well not one bit. I can't dig it. Serius Jones is decent, but I don't feel him. The beat is different, but simple nevertheless. This song is a dime a dozen in my book.
I think Serius Jones is solid, but this song isnt doin it for me. Really the chorus is weak, but everything else is solid. I just wont listen to this ever again.
I been hearin alot about this serious jones dude. Never heared him freestyle, but I heared good things bout him. this song is not good at all. They need to give the kid a better single. Give him somethin with no hook where he can just get off. Like a millie type song. he a freestyle rapper this @*#$! is 4 someone like 2pistols or plies.
Nice attempt from Serius Jones. Bobby V doesn't do an outstanding job with the vocals but if he wasn't on this record it would have completely flopped.
i'm biased against any rapper named Jones (see Jim Jones, Mike Jones...) however this dude is not bad. but it's really Bobby V who's bringin this track down! this is somethin i haven't heard from him, and it just sounds odd. I would replace him wit Lloyd. He would murder the hook on this.
Bobby has had plenty of work on hooks, but I agree with earlier assessments-- he sounds better on verses. As for Jones, he is a GREAT freestyler, but emcee's don't strive to 'stick with freestyling only.' I hope he takes advantage of his newfound freedom; solid song, nothing special.
Serious is one of the illest at free styling....saw him body dudes...and I have to agree with donjonjon..with lloyds voice I think he wouldve crushed this joint...bobby didnt help this joint at all
Not feelin Bobby V's hook, the production is just decent. Dang I didn't know Serius left DTP! I was wondering what was going on with his debut, Life Is Serius, since there wasn't any singles released. Otherwise, the lyrics aren't bad, but this is only decent.
