Now that we’ve officially graduated from “jacket weather” to “coat weather” up here in Minne-ap (I know, the rest of you are still rocking tank tops, no need to rub it in), there’s always the temptation to order pizza and watch a flick instead of heading out to enjoy the nightlife. Fortunately, Vegas up-and-comer Sean Rose is here to remind us that there’s nothing like those city lights on new single (and Booth debut) Downtown. Over Royce Music Group beatsmith Cam‘s chilly, cosmopolitan synth boardwork, the emcee expresses his gratitude to a chick who’s held him down through all his struggles, assuring her that her loyalty won’t go unrewarded. Philly-based Booth fave (and freestyle series alum) Gilbere Forte’ handles guest duties, lacing the chorus with some of the same smooth vocals he laid down on reader-acclaimed mixtape cut I Know My Love. You have to hand it to the man; Sean really Rose to the Occasion here. If you agree, you can find plenty more where this came from on the artist’s new, punnily-titled EP, released in October and out now online.

Just me, or do you hear a little bit of Obie Trice in Rose's vocals? Again, it could just be me. I'll wait.

On the first listen, I didn't know if we'd end up featuring "Downtown" at the Booth. But then Forte's hook started to mesmerize me (along with that fine production) and the next thing I knew we were sold.

Rose will have to impress more the next time around, but on "Downtown" he does just enough.

That swirling synth, smooth hook sound is big right now, but you still need to provide a little more originality on the mic to take things to the next level. Impressive debut from Rose, but I feel like he can do better.

And Z, yes, it's just you. I don't hear Obie Trice at all.

Forte' definitely adds alot to the song, but so does the production. And let's not forget the artist himself, i mean Sean Rose definitely doesn't sound that bad people. But definitely has great potential.

Actually DJ Z, it kinda does sound like Obie at first.

Im really loving the flow of this. Its a very enjoyable listen. I really like Sean's verses in this. I cant see myself listening to this for a while...

The feature of Gilbere is really great. His chores is super catchy. But..... im not really feeling the production from Cam.... In rotation for me.

Very unoriginal, he had an opportunity to really make this track his own.
