Teen reggae singer/rapper Sean Kingston took the States by storm this past summer with his break out hit, Beautiful Girls. The song, which was produced by mentor JR Rotem, is an adaptation of the classic Ben E. King record, Stand By Me. Since dipping into the past worked well once, why not try it again, right? This time around Sean does without the lyrical switcharoo and simply records a cover of the classic Bob Marley song, No Woman No Cry. While Sean is not Bob (and even he would agree), the teen phenom does a remarkable job of replicating Marley’s unique reggae chants and during the chorus harmonizes with multiple layers of his own vocals. Though No Woman No Cry does not appear on Kingston’s self-titled debut, it will appear on the charts very soon.
Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry" is one of the greatest songs every recorded and there are countless covers. Sean Kingston incorporates a new-wave spin to the record with the many minors effects. He isn't your typical reggae vocalist, but this cover will be loved by the younger generation who will probably think that this is an original song by Sean Kingston!
Decent track, just cant do it like marley though! i expect this one to blow up on the radio. amazing how far kingston has progressed over this year.
3/5 stars.
couldnt even listen to the rest of the rest of the song, some songs deserved not to be touched this remind me of the kidz bop version of marleys version.
This will be a hit! The bob version will never be touched...EVER. Even Wyclef fell way short some years ago when he did this song. It's still a classic track and he brings a different swagger to it and he definitely has what it takes to pull it off somewhat...
There is an unspoken rule in the music industry that you should never do a cover of a famous song...unless your version is better than the original. One of Sean's idol's is Bob Marley, clearly he means the icon no disrespect. This isn't a disgrace to Marley or the song and if you say you turned it off, you are lying.
The up-tempo beat is nicely done. The hook has a nice twist to it. Definitely a teenie-bopper hit. Wyclef's version was more like the original Bob Marley version with minor modification; however, this has more of a pop/reggae vibe to it.
Mi wouldn't play this inna di Dancehall. No "Fahwards! or "Gunshots" fi di one yuh. No man can test the late, great Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry". Zeen my yute?
well my heritage is Jamaican and I will say, that If I was him I wouldn't have done this but

I don't think Bob Marley would have minded this!

that being said there is no disrespect in this song its just on the soft side but it still sounds good by its self

.
Sean keep doin your thang man, just be original!
5-10
He ruined a classic and U say he's got talent?!?! He has no credit about anything in the song! It's Marley's and even what was good about it got ruined. Yeah, I guess Sean Kingston is really talented at that.. :s Disgusting!
I usually hate re-makes but I actually think Sean Kingston pulled this one off.. Bob Marleyz "No Woman No Cry" is sooooooooooooooo much betta and no1 can argue with that but I like how hez modernised that song but still kept the feel of the orriginal.. I dunno bout yall but I like it
@*#$! ALL HATER FOR SEAN KINGSTON TOO BE YOUNG HE DOING HIS THANG I REALLI LIKE SEAN KINGSTON VOICE IN THIS SONG AND I LIKE HOW HE CHANGED UP THE SONG!!!I LOVE SEAN KINGSTON H
I respect the fact that he wants to pay homage to bob marley. I also think he knows his version is nothing like the original and i don't think he's tryna make it that way. Nice track, but doesn't touch bob marley's.
