Sean Garrett - Up in My Heart
Artist: Sean Garrett
Featuring: Gucci Mane
Producer: Bangladesh
Album: DJ Neptune Exclusive
Label: Bet I Penned It/Roc Nation/Columbia
If at first you don’t succeed….well, you know the rest. Just a year ago it looked like singer/producer/songwriter extraordinaire Sean Garrett, who had penned smash hits for the likes of Usher, Chris Brown and Mary J. Blige, was poised to make a solo impact with his debut album Turbo 919. Unfortunately, Turbo only ended up on store shelves in Japan, but Garrett is back to try again with the release of new, Bangladesh-produced single Up In My Heart. First leaked via DJ Neptune’s Twitter page (it’s a brave new world), Up In My Heart is a club-ready banger complete with a verse from the suddenly omnipresent Gucci Mane that Garrett overlays with his always smooth vocals. Will Up In My Heart be the hit that finally pushes Garrett’s currently untitled, unscheduled new album to hit American shores? That, loyal DJBooth listeners, is up to you.

Sean is a great songwriter, but I just don't know if I have ever been sold on his singing skills. I am not sure what went wrong on his first go-around, but I can only wish him the best moving forward.
As for the song itself, ehhhhh. Gucci is the new Lil Wayne and Bangladesh has not impressed me yet. Let's see if this can get some traction at radio. Not sure, yet. |

Yeah I agree with Z. I've never been sold on his singing skills either. The production was nothing special at all and Gucci is boring as hell. This radio music is getting so boring. I can't listen to this sh*t.

What a terrible combination. Gucci Mane is just not worth the money these guys are paying him for his guest features (unless he's bein payed under $100), Bangladesh hasnt made a decent track since 'A Milli' (which is probably his only good track) & Sean Garrett just isnt that good of a singer (though he's a brilliant song writer).

I don't even know where to start. This is just a bad version of Mario's Break Up (which already had its flaws)
Sean can't sing, Gucci can't rap, Bangladesh is average at best. |

I used to hate Gucci, now he's Ok. Sean sometimes is hard to understand vocally. THis song is banging though, lyrics are ON POINT, Gucci Mane KILLED it! I have a feeling this will be big.

I kinda liked this one. I never thought Garrett had the ability to sing like Usher, but he uses his talents well. Gucci did well in my opinion. He was a little less irritating than his usual self. He came with some catchy lines.

Man, Sean Garrett can write some damn good songs for other folks, but for himself? Aaahhh? And another Gucci Mane feature? No hate, but can someone explain to me why Gucci is suddenly the most in-demand rapper in the game? Why? Seriously, why?

@Nathan - Basically this is that song that makes b*tches vagina’s vibrate and want cum inside them i.e. what sells (and not Slaughterhouse) ....
All these "artists" that are doing songs with him look real fake because we all know that they don’t think he could rap. They are all just trying to capitalize on gaining a further fan base. It’s so pathetic and it shows how all integrity is out the window for even good artists/song-writers. |

Alll of these negative comments ya'll postin' is very similar 2 the comments posted on mario-break up & that song was top 5 on the charts!! This song probably won't be as successful as Mario's single, but it still has potential....

No wonder Gucci hooked up with Garrett, Garretts "singing flow" is on point, you can tell for sure on that first wife beater line, its goes PERFECT with the beat and he just glides over the beat with crazy lyrics and catches you off guard nonstop. Gucci killed it as usual in my opinion, unique visual lyrics and an unmatched flow. Unique banger.

and to comment at least on why I've became such a huge gucci mane fan recently and why i believe hes gaining more and more fans is that you can bounce to each and every one of his songs, mayb cause hes always on some pills but his flow is unmatched in my opinion, and on top of that flow, he uses really visual lyrics like "i call her mother nature, she call me jack frost, call me gucci mane da glacier" just unqiue stuff that no one else raps about.

Yeah I like this one cause its just rides. Gucci seems like he study the Lil Wayne formula of being everywhere. Sean may not have the strongest vocals but he doesnt try to do too much on this track.

As everyone may kno gucci can't rap but he took off in this song, Sean G to me is a one hit wounder, i dont believe he will ever make a song as good as Grippin on da Bed, but that's just my opion.......3.5 stars....IN ROTATION-BANGER

The beat is absolute crack. It hits on point.
Gucci's basic flow is mediocre to me; SG's sing-songy cantabile flow on his choruses are so catchy. Not fond of his rapped verses though. |
