Sean Falyon - Fighting to S.O.S. (Dear Philadelphia)
Artist: Sean Falyon
Producer: The Weathermen
Album: Mr. Peter Parker: The Grind Season (Go-Getters Vol. 1)
Label: SFBE Music
Sean Falyon wasn’t kidding when he named his recent mixtape Be Everywhere; it seems like every time I turn around I’m hearing a new track from the epically bearded heavyweight emcee. In addition to a DJBooth freestyle and the aforementioned omnipresent project, Falyon also put in work on Mr. Peter Parker’s The Grind Season mixtape, work that today comes in the form of Fighting to S.O.S. (Dear Philadelphia). Produced by The Weathermen, who drop an organ heavy, revolutionarily grinding beat, S.O.S. is a narrative track featuring Falyon bringing us to the streets of his native Philadelphia, a city that’s been besieged by even more violence than usual: “It’s like we dyin just to make it, we learn to live numb to the pain, another soul without a home, names cover the graves.” The subject matter’s serious, and so it’s only right that Falyon’s rhymes are seriously dope. As Dead Prez once said, sometimes it’s bigger than hip-hop, and this is one of those times. Both Be Everywhere and The Grind Season are available now – act accordingly.

sean is certainly appearing on a lot of tracks lately which is a good thing- seeing his name in the booth this morning was something good to wake up to. the weatherman had a horror-sounding beat which suited the topic of the song and sean spat well on this, spoke from the heart which is good.

It takes a little longer than I'd like to get into the record, but The Weathermen organ-influenced production is so good that I don't really mind it. Falyon has a love it or hate it flow. Most of the time I like it. I guess that means I am right in-between.

Yo, the beat sounds JUST like that Black Sunn song "It's Yourz"! But this is much less spectacular.
One more thing: I know you guys get paid for the DJ Hero ad on top of the site, but is there a way for it to only start playing if we click it (and not automatically)? It gets in the way of the actual songs. Just a humble thoughttt. |

As I wrote in the intro, this isn't the track you can take lightly. You have to really invest in listening to it, and if you're in the right mood i can be damn rewarding. With that said, I can honestly see how it won't work for some folks.

Sean Falyon's voice is like an instrument that completes an otherwise simplistic beat. The hook could use some work, but the verses, message and production on this are top-notch.

Anything which has an organ or piano ALWAYS has my attention, Falyon did well, I enjoyed him rap away but just couldn't get into this one.

Pretty good track, but the production needs a little something to keep it interesting. MMcoleman, were working with the advertiser to try to make the ad less intrusive. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The re-working of a classic RZA production (with added effects) is good and Sean Falyon's thoughtful rhyming goes with it. But as a whole, not something I would listen regularly but I would advise other people to hear it at least once.

In all honesty I dont feel this song, however I think it still needs to be respected for the message. Nowadays its all too simple to brag yourself up and act hard. (Dont get me wrong its entertaining and it works)
Props to Sean |

The organ infused beat is definately the highlight of this track. The hook is a little boring and could have used some work. With that being said, it isn't a bad track, but it's nothing special either.

It's just a easily forgettable record. Nothing special on this song, on to the next one.

Not really blown away by it, I lose interest in the song before it even gets started. The organ background is the best part, I feel like put in the hands of a better MC it could have been something special, but it just is another forgettable track.

Man can rap, has a good flow and something to say. But there's something else missing, unless he's not interested in making enjoyable music.

This song is just ok. I usually love Falyon. I love his old school feel and head boobing lyrics but this song just did not impress me!

This guy isn't going to reach many speakers with a boring organ sample and a dull flow.

Dont know why but made me think of the west coast instead of philly, even his flo has some westside twist to it but either way, he laid down some decent lines and production is cool.
