Sean Armstrong - Listen to the Message
Producer: Dischoe
Album: Truth Be Told
Label: Strong-Arm Productions Inc.
Some artists require us to read between the lines and discover the deeper meaning of their tracks for ourselves. Booth newcomer Sean Armstrong, on the other hand, prefers to get straight to the point; a member of 9th Wonder‘s True School crew (as DJ Face), the Washington, D.C. native delivers his thesis statement in the opening bars of new mixtape leak Listen to the Message: “You can’t rely on nobody else but yourself.” Despite the ruggedly individualistic theme, this cut isn’t all work and no play; Dischoe‘s swung, soul-sampled boardwork is precisely tuned to get heads nodding, and Armstrong comes with allusive, wordplay-laced bars to match: “I’m Kinda Like a Big Deal like the Clipse be / I keep it real, and I Russell like I’m Nipsey.” Like what you’re hearing? You’ll be able to find plenty more hot beats and rhymes from Dischoe and Sean Armstrong on their Truth Be Told mixtape, set to drop on the 27th.

Lovin' the sample and beat. Sean's flow is nice here too. Anyone else notice the Clipse reference? Pretty suprising there.

This dude has spitting skills. "you needa gat to make a N**** do backflips" haha but the chorus of this song has a good message, but not that effective. I give him a 3 for his talent.

Loving the word play in this song and love the concept behind it. Has a real classic feel to it too, a true head bobbing song. A lot of name dropping going on in here too which is working really well for this track. We need more tracks like this out there, has the essence of the old school with the wordplay of the new. This is going on my gym mix, good workout song.

Armstrong went hard on this track. I'll look for his stuff in the future.
Beat was kinda sick, and the hook was OK. Rotation. |

Real dope cut - one of my favorite of tonight's batch of features. Leave it to a DJ to know what the people really want to hear. Impressed.

Its alright.. Sounds like a track that I found on a cassette lying around and thought it was pretty decent, also sounds "Pre-50Cent" . Nothing Special, nevertheless, worth listening.

I honestly did not like this song. The beat was very slow and it reminded me of the very bad low rated rap artists that I some time listen to. The beat is very very simple for me. For someone who likes to listen to the new synthesizers and other sounds in music the instrumental of this song was just way to simple for me. That is why I am only giving it a 2

haha with a beat like that i expected common instead of sean to blow this up.
beat with the clashing cymbals playing lightly over the drums make me feel like im in church. chorus sounds like some band from back in the day as if they too it from radio and meshed it into the track. hahah punchlines are on point definatly on this track concert is gonna be crazy if this song is played but not something id play on repeat much on my laptop. witty,a little cunning something i dig on this track along with a chorus thats got you boppin makes me dig this song but doubt ill give it much attention on my mp3 this definitly gets a 3.5 could be 4 too |

The Production is exceptional. Dischoe came through there. Sampling and adding that 90's inspired drum beats to give a nouvelle sound. S Armstrong follows through with solid verses. its a 3.5 , prolly a 4 it it grows on me. gOOD tune

This is dope, great sample and cool beat. Sean Anderson had some hot lines, like that one bout being on fire like Dylan or Richard Pryor. Haha I'll give it a 3 cause I'm sure Sean knows best.

He spits some fire for sure and I definately "heard his message". I wasn't a big fan of the production but it wasn't terrible. What made this song for me was just Sean's skillz on the mic.

His flow and word play go great with the production. Seans got some real talent. This isn't something I would personally bump but that doesnt mean its not a good solid track.
