More than a decade after work first began on Detox, hip-hop heads everywhere are still awaiting the album as if it were the second coming of Christ. I bring that up only because it illustrates the unbelievable level of loyalty Dr. Dre inspires in hip-hop heads and artists; defining the sound of a region, and an era with his legendary production techniques, the man has left an indelible mark on the game like few before and none since. On the lead single off his next street album, Scoe takes a moment to say, “Thank You, doctor,” lauding Mr. Young’s achievements and describing how Dre’s classic work helped make him the man, and the artist he is today. Jake One pays tribute to that classic Left Coast sound on the production, building his slow-rolling street instrumental around a cleverly-selected soul sample, and Kendrick Lamar jumps on the mic to express his own gratitude to the father of G-Funk on the back end. Fans will be able to find this dope homage, the recently-featured End of Summer and much more on Tha Influence, which has yet to receive a drop date. Keep it lcoekd for further details!
