Already considered the king of New Zealand hip-hop, rapper Savage is hoping that a new domestic record deal with Universal Republic will spread his Kiwi success to the rest of the world. The first single from his U.S. debut will be a remix to his ‘05 down-under, club banger, Swing. Having topped New Zealand’s singles chart for five weeks straight, the 26-year old-Auckland native held an online contest to help him decide who he should feature on the remix; the winner was fellow club jam master Soulja Boy, who saw the song as an opportunity to continue his ”she gotta Donk” trend. As Swing starts to get spins all over the world this summer, New Zealanders can sit back laughing—after all, they knew it had hit-power three years ago.
Ok. Let me say this. If this were the original, it would get 4 stars out of me. As a college student, I have heard this song at almost every bar/party I've been to in the past year or so. But this remix brings nothing to the table, Soulja Boy does a horrible verse and makes the song not as good. For the remix only, I am giving it a 1. BUT- the original is a BANGER for sure!
ATP's production is generically bangish. Everything except the cheap, Frutiy Loop snare is pretty good. Soulja Boy ain't saying nothing as usuage. Savage is loud, Ok, but nothing special. The song overall is pretty trash. I'll give it 2 for the semi-decent beat.
yeah boy im from NEW ZEALAND and this song went off about 5 years ago its algud but savage has done other songs wit akon called moonshine which was better but this aite tho..
Beat hits hard. Soulja Boy doesn't do much for the track. Savage has a unique voice but I'm not sure if it fits this tune--especially when he says swing.
Never heard the original so I can't understand how much this is worse...the beat is super in my opinion, but I don't like them at all! OK for the beat, I would dance to it but Savage's voice is kinda unbearable to me
Believe it or not, most international countries think Soulja Boy is a "Rap Icon." So, with that in mind, is it all surprising that he was chosen to be featured on the domestic remix? I think not. Regardless of SB's verse, this beat goooooesss HARD in the clubs and parties. If you've seen the movie Knocked Up, you know it works too...

okay, im from NZ, the original was better and the video was funny @*#$! but i no why he put Soulja on here, i don't like soulja but heaps people buy he's @*#$! and he just trying break into the market, i wouldn't say he was the king of hip hop over here, scribe has been more sussesful then him, im going put it as a ok as it is old to me
I can't stand how he keeps saying "Swiiing" in that high pitched voice! Turned it off after Soulja's verse. And on a side note, the more I hate on Soulja Boy, the more I realize that he's just havin' fun, and I really don't think that he's trying to be the greatest rapper alive. But its time I give him respect where its due. After all, he's got more money now than I'll see if I lived to be 150 years old!
The beat is real fresh...however not the same can be said about his style of flow..its almost bonecrusher like...and soulja boy needs a reality check that he is not a TRue Rapper..

Personally wasnt a great fan of this song by Savage .. his other stuff is good .. Scribe, Frontline, King Kapisi are other MC's up there in NZ .. live in Syd for 8 yrs now.. Savage done well for himself & got the good hook ups - look out for his jam with Akon..
