Saigon - Clap
Artist: Saigon
Featuring: Faith Evans
Producer: Just Blaze
Album: The Greatest Story Never Told
Label: Suburban Noize Records/RED
Wait, could it really be? Could Saigon’s uber-ironically titled album The Greatest Story Never Told, an album whose delays reached Detox proportions, finally be hitting the shelves? You’re damn right it is. With persistence like that, I think we’ve got no choice but to stand up and applaud the man (aka Clap). A song that will serve as the album’s radio single, Clap takes its cue from an appropriately triumphant beat from the legendary Just Blaze, who seamlessly blends soul samples with heavy hitting percussion. Reminiscent of Nas and Lauryn Hill’s classic If I Ruled the World, Clap finds Saigon imagining a world without crooked cops, haters and daily killings on his street, all in his typically straight forward flow; sentiments that are made even stronger by a hook from the esteemed Faith Evans. He’s not kidding when he says “You are just about to witness history made.” As hard as it may be to believe, The Greatest Story Never Told will finally drop on (knocks on wood) February 15. Hopefully it will be well worth the wait.

As we (finally) approach the release of Sai's official debut release, its records like "Clap" that serve as a reminder that lots of time has been lost over the years that the emcee will never get back.

No joke, this was playing in the apartment last night and my baby daughter was dancing to it. Now that's some widespread appeal.
I think what she was feeling, and what I'm feeling, is the obvious feel good vibe of the record. It's hard to listen to this and not feel good about the power of music. |

I only started listening to Saigon after "Bring Me Down" and every Saigon song I've heard after "Bring Me Down" was at least 4 stars. The production was great and the chorus was alright. 4/5.

Its nice to hear from Saigon. Havent heard from in way too long. He's always making enjoyable song that are bangers. And thats exactly what he did right here. He brought Faith in this and killed it. The production from Just Blaze is really great. I love Saigon's lyrics in this. They are so deep and thoughtful. Im sorry but there just isnt enough for 5 stars.
