Saigon - Bring Me Down
Artist: Saigon
Producer: Saigon & DJ Corbett
Album: The Greatest Story Never Told
Label: Suburban Noize Records/RED
When you’ve been the victim of as much industry B.S. as Saigon, you have two choices: get really damn good at making lemons into lemonade, or simply give up. Fortunately for fans of quality hip-hop, the Brooklyn mainstay chose to keep his chin up – as he puts it on his latest single, “Y’all aint gonna Bring Me Down.” Over his and DJ Corbett‘s blend of crunchy guitar and live percussion, the artist informs fans that, though he often feels like it’s him against the world, he won’t let any amount of hate or red tape slow him down – in fact, anyone who gets in his way will soon find himself peppered with more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese: “I dare somebody jump out the window to try to stop me / I wait for n*ggas then shoot ‘em like I was a paparazzi…” Saigon’s determination to succeed is unquestionable, but is this single’s alt-rock informed sound a good look for the lyrical bruiser? And will it stir up enough buzz to ensure that Sai’s long-awaited debut studio album, The Greatest Story Never Told, actually makes onto store shelves on February 15, 2011? Feel free to speculate – or simply keep your fingers crossed.

While I don't know that "Bring Me Down" will finally be the single that gets Saigon the platform he deserves, it does serve as a solid reminder of his skill set and musical abilities. The alt-rock edge gives his rhymes more bite and the production overall is a great accompaniment. I'm a fan.

Now this is how you show the rest of them how eclectic Hip-Hop/Rap can be. That flow gave me goosebumps.

I think the hook is stronger than Saigon bars, he didn’t step up.

The hook surprised me..obviously he's reaching for elsewhere.. it's not as HARD as he used to come but it's a solid effort.

like the lyrical prowess,,this guy is a hard-hitter and should keep these home runs comin.
If anyone remembers Evan Roberts 'Outta Hear EP' like I did then I guess I will want this mainstay to keep reppin and keep the electro-beat slide coming. |

His Verses Are Really Good. The Only Problem Is The Hook Has Too Much Of The Rock. Which I'm Not A Big Fan Of. Looking Forward To Listen To The Album.

The tracks I've been hearing lately got me pumped for his album to drop early next year. The You Make Me Sick video is also dope..ready for some real NY hip hop back on the game and Saigon's definitely ready to satisfy that thirst for us all.

For some reason I just love the rock, hip hop mix. It really works for me and this is one of the best... not too hard but yet just enough. Saigon flows effortlessly. This bangs!!

Clicked this song not expecting much and it blew me away. Lyrics are on point and the beat is good, and the chorus does it all justice. Kind of a rock feeling, but it works...somehow.
