Life ain’t easy – and, as those who tuned in for cathartic mixtape cut How Can I Explain already know, Saheed is well acquainted with hardship. Be that as it may, the Panhandle State buzzmaker (and freestyle series contributor) has no patience for those who take life’s struggles as license to sit around and feel sorry for themselves. On mixtape leak Empathy, making its world premiere in the Booth, he administers a little tough love, encouraging those down on their luck to man (or woman) up and “play the hand that you’re dealt.” Far as I Can See beatsmith Ozny handles production duties, pairing a descending horn sample with a head-noddable breakbeat as the headliner spits his characteristically agile, insightful bars. Lending a hand, or several hands, on the guest tip are the vocal portion of Miami crew ¡MAYDAY! (whose Lords of the Fly mixtape hit the Booth earlier today!); Bernbiz and Wrekonize hop aboard to contribute a witty guest verse each, as well as a tuneful hook. Like what you’re hearing? Then Take Heed: Saheed’s new, Booth-sponsored street album will be available for free streaming and download October 13.

"Empathy" is a little slow moving to start, which isn't what we'd expect from either Saheed or Ozny based solely on their Booth history, but it works nonetheless. Miami has a tremendous amount of talent and I couldn't be happier that we have the opportunity to constantly showcase it.

One of the most difficult things to do in music is to get the right match when the producer and artist come together on a track. They BOTH have to be on the same page because the differences are noticed immediatly. If Saheedd is going to be on production like this he has to slow down his flow to match the mood of the track. Something's got to give.

Such a banger! Saheed constantly rips it, Mayday never disappoints and Ozny is definitely a heavy hitter. Much love for this.

Sick. A fresh and funky production, big-body break beat with big-band sound. Raw lyrics lace the track with some real-world ish! The MCs are all on point with both verse and tone. A beautiful colab to remind us we all share the human condition.

i was in love with small something so naturally i was excited when i saw his name, and he doesn't disappoint. While i do feel small something is better, this is still solid.

great music!
Honestly though i expected it to be near classic (as the super high rating would suggest), but after i found out i was wrong i scanned through the comments/ratings. i noticed like 1/2 of the raters were first timers (or close) rating 5 stars. we seriously need to filter out atleast some of this, or i can send in a song and get all the homies to make accounts and rate my stuff 5 stars. anyway its okay in this case, i am just venting. |

Everyone on this did a great job. The syncopation Saheed puts in his flow here is done tastefully in my opinion...

Ok this I think is actually the first time I'm writing a post. If this guy doesn't make it big hiphop is truly dead. Monstrous talent he is.

Saheed is definitely an up and coming artist I don't want to sleep on. And after hearing "As Far as Eye Can See", Ozny's producing is a force to reckoned with. Add MAYDAY! to the picture and you got an instant classic.
