S-Preme - Dope (Fly For Life)
Artist: S-Preme
Producer: Mr. Music
Album: Awkward Silence
Label: Unsigned
Although Chicago emcee S-Preme may have taken a brief musical hiatus, prior to this month’s Booth feature Nothing Less he was last featured in September, his latest record Dope (Fly For Life) is a clear indicator that said hiatus is officially over. The Freestyle Series alum energetically jumps onto Dope (Fly For Life) with the vigor of an emcee who both wants and needs to be heard. The energy continues throughout the song as Preme works his way around Mr. Music’s upbeat production and light turntablism. The Windy City artist doesn’t shy away from addressing the haters either, rapping: “I been doing this and I trust my ears/ So why you n*gga’s feel like weighing in on my career?” Dope (Fly For Life) is just a small sampling of what can be expected on S-Preme’s forthcoming mixtape, Awkward Silence, due out later this month.

Welcome back, Preme. Super catchy track that borders on hip hop meets new era street-pop. Preme's energy, which matches the tempo and vibe, is what makes the song work. Not sure it has multiple play potential, but its worthy of rotation.

This is a good listen all the way through. Nice enjoyable beat by Mr. Music and S-Preme just goes on and on like the Energizer Bunny on this one... I'm feelin it.
