Roy Murci - Piece of Mind
Artist: Roy Murci
Producer: Royal [for Fresh Republic]
Album: Crown Royal
Label: Unsigned
Like many artists, Roy Murci is both blessed and cursed with a brain that just won’t turn off. For the Maryland emcee, rap isn’t just a creative outlet; it’s a safety valve for the thoughts constantly running round his mental. On the inaugural leak off his forthcoming, Booth-hosted street release, making its world premiere right here on our front page, the up-and-coming spitter blows off some intellectual steam in hopes that putting it all down on wax will win him a little ‘Piece of Mind.’ Fresh Republic member Royal provides a brooding instrumental to back the artist’s reflections on the conflict between artistic integrity and the paper chase. If this introspective jam leaves you craving more, you’ll find what you seek on Murci’s Crown Royal street album, scheduled to hit the Booth November 12, for free streaming and download.

Sharp production, the sonic landscape here fits the weather mood of half the country at the moment; slightly downtrodden, mellow, glass half empty.

Tight flow by Roy Murci all the way through this one. Nice dragging beat by Royal to match. I'm feelin it.

The beat was pretty slow for me, liking the keys on this. Roy Murci sounds like he could definitely turn it up. Solid flow from him. The chorus is pretty catchy. A tad too slow though.

The beat is simple, and catchy. Alot of the time its quick but this ones slowed down and it works. Roy Murci's flow matched the feel of the song and he went hard from the beginning to end. I wasn't feeling the ending though

Convincing to the say the least. Haven't heard of this guy before but I sure hope to hear more. This track has dope wordplay, effortless delivery, ill concept.. The beat almost sounds as if it's a marching army readying to invade Troy. I was pleasantly surprised with a MD guy with this sound. Not really a fan of the hook, but I was all the way sold once I heard the passion in the 2nd verse. I'll definitely be looking forward to his project. Way to go DJBooth for this find!
