Roy Hamilton III - New New
Artist: Roy Hamilton III
Producer: Roy Hamilton III
Album: Fresh & Futuristic
Label: Monarch
Craving some New music from an artist who’s New to the Booth? Well, you’ve come to the right place, because it doesn’t get more Fresh & Futuristic than the first feature from Roy Hamilton III. The New York-born, Jersey-raised singer/songwriter/rapper/producer makes full use of his diverse skill set on this club-ready joint; over his own bouncy, synth-fueled boardwork, the artist takes us on a lyrical journey to the next millennium, driving the point home with allusions to such cutting-edge cultural touchstones as Blu-Ray, Star Trek, DeLoreans and… Right Said Fred? Yeah, I’m not really sure about that last one… while the I’m Too Sexy duo are still together according to Wikipedia, the odds of their becoming relevant at any point in the future seem slightly lower than those of me receiving a flying car for my birthday. But hey, anything’s possible! Topped off with some catchy chorus vocals by by Def Jam singer Ashley Loren, this track is just one of the many forward-looking bangers set to appear on Hamilton’s debut set, scheduled to land on store shelves May 3, 2011.

Now more than ever before it is clear that artists are focusing solely on making music for the club. If you get played in the club, you get requested at radio. If you get played at radio, you get purchased at iTunes. If you get purchased at iTunes... blah blah blah and the cycle continues until you play gigs for screaming fans all around the world.
Though I am a much bigger fan of RH3's work behind the scenes as a talented writer and producer (see his discog for proof), this song has an addictive core. Speadheaded by Loren's poppy vocals, I can hear this being played on repeat for months on end. I am not crazy. |

Also, the TRON: Legacy theme song? One of the movies coming out this year which I'm heaps looking forward to. |

I can see this hear going number one the billboard top 40. This is more like a energetic pop sound. I wonder if he has a major deal because he can to places with a song like this.

Z just broke it the f**k down above. Artists seem to feel like their path to success lies through the club, and while I wish them all the success in the world, I'm just not personally a very big fan of club music. So....this track's not something I'll be playing again, but Hamilton deserves some props for accomplishing the task he set out to achieve; making an energetic pop club hit.
