Rome - Borderline Famous
Producer: Rome
Album: The Impossible
Label: BYI Entertainment
It’s sad but true. There are still people out there who don’t know Rome from the capital of Italy. If you take the West Coast rapper/producer’s word for it, though, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a household name – as he puts it on this newly-leaked cut, “I’m Borderline Famous.” Looking to Darryl Hall solo single Borderline for inspiration, the artist crafts a fittingly smooth and swanky backdrop for his fantasies of the fast life he knows is just around the corner. Just how confident is he? Well, when a female he’s chatting up at the bus stop wonders why he’s taking public transit instead of cruising in a Mercedes, he doesn’t skip a beat; by the time the record’s over, he has the girl in question fully convinced that he’s “the underdog, about to be the favorite.” Be that as it may, Booth readers still need to weigh in: is Rome as he claims, just a breath away from the success he’s worked so long and hard to achieve? Speculate away – or withhold judgment till you’ve peeped what he has to offer on L.A. Leakers-presented free album The Impossible, scheduled to hit the ‘net late in the second quarter of 2011.

Didn't expect this from Rome with what i heard on his last mixtape. But this is really nice. That production is really nice and laid back. And then to see that he produced it himself???? Wow. Maybe he is Borderline Famous afterall.

To be honest I just registered today so I could show support to an artist that has shown major growth through the years. I love how Rome could make this record feel like he's worth a million bucks, yet he's explaining to a female at a bus stop why he doesn't have a car.
I'm guessing in this day in age you actually see an artist development right in front of your eyes. Great job and great feature. Best of luck to him. |

His excellent production is a big reason why, but this is some of the best material we've heard from Rome... um... to date.
