On his brand new, exclusive History freestyle, the Soulville Recordings emcee flows over a J. Dilla-produced beat originally featured on Mos Def and Talib Kweli‘s cut of the same title. R.O.E. is currently busy promoting his debut EP, A Backpacker Named R.O.E., as well as preparing to release videos for several tracks off the project. In addition, the artist is working on a forthcoming, yet-untitled full-length.

R.O.E. starts off with an apology (nice touch), chooses a great instrumental, and name drops the Booth double the amount of times he needed to. Plus, he is my Chicago neighbor - which earns him a few extra points haha.

Really dig the rhymes, but what this got to do with history? I guess I was expecting mad Hip Hop Knowlege to be spit into the mic or sumthin, since the title didnt meet my expectation -1 =\

Really feelin' this. Love the beat selection, and his flow is solid. I haven't downloaded too many of the freestyle series entries, because freestyles tend to lose their novelty and aren't as high quality as other features, but this is great. I can listen to it over and over. It is so smooth and clean. It's also cool to see R.O.E on here responding to reviews, it shows he really cares about his work.
