Rockie Fresh - A.C. Green
Artist: Rockie Fresh
Producer: The Cartoonz (The Gift & LPeezy)
Album: Otherside
Label: Maybach Music/Warner Bros.
Most people can’t wait to get their first car. Others can’t wait to go to prom or graduate from school, while most rappers simply can’t wait to blow (figuratively of course). Then you had famous celibate NBA player A.C. Green, who didn’t mind waiting. Enter young Chicago representative Rockie Fresh, an emcee who refuses to delay his career any longer. With a sampled chorus from Kanye West, taken off Barry Bonds, Rockie spits bars over an eerie and dark beat laced by production duo The Cartoonz. As the drums steadily knock and the macabre melody lags in the background, Rockie goes on to tell the story of his hunger and mentions how he can’t wait for the day when “a million dollars is a parking ticket.” The young Chi-Town native dropped Rockie’s Modern Life last December and has been gaining momentum since with a DJBooth Freestyle and recent features like Living. Rockie’s follow-up project, Otherside, drops on December 16 - and I’m sure that many folks have been waiting patiently…

A.C. Green the ball player was a nice guy, but this record (of the same name) is meeeeaaaan! The Cartoonz production is gripping and Fresh rides it with an ulta-serious approach. This tactic might not work for some, but I think it complements Rockie's vocals and overall vibe really well. Besides his Booth freestyle, this is my favorite record off the forthcoming project.

I have been a fan of Rockie Fresh for some time now. His last record really caught me for a long term fan. It was great. Really great actually.
This record is better than that previous record. Rockie went crazy on this. His lyrics are amazing on his verses, with a great smooth flow. The production is fantastic from The Cartoonz. I cant wait to see whats next from Rockie. |

Love the eerie feel to this track. I mean Rockie and The Cartoonz were definitely on the same page on this one.

You can never go wrong with an A.C. Green reference, and thankfully Rockie more than backed it up. I can't recall him going in over such a dark beat before, but it really fits his completely honest flow.

He kills once again! I gotta feeling this kid is going to be some serious trouble for rap in 2k11. Seems to have his shit together. Freshman list?

I like his bars but I cant get on board wih the space, ghostly production. The hook is half way decent tho.

He kind of sounds like Kanye on this. Even though his content is not anywhere close to being on the level of Kanye. Its ironic that he sample Kanye. At first the beat sounded weird until played a while.
